I believe it is per month. The congregation as a whole is responsible for contributing, the amount is based on the # of publishers. T hey won’t be walking around to each pub. And asking for the $4.50 but I’m sure that as soon as the cong. checking account dwindles to near nothing they will have a local needs on “giving as much as possible to Jehoover and his earthly borganization.

We don't pass the plate, we just demand the $$
by lost_light06 inthe other night during the announcements between the ministry school and service meeting there was a letter read.
i pretty much tuned out the whole thing but what did catch my ear was the request that $4.50 per publisher be contributed by each cong.
for whatever bogus committee the letter was dealing with (sorry i cant be more specific, i honestly dont remember what it was for).

I’ve heard these letters before where they demand a contribution amount per the number of publisher. What makes me sick, though, is how much witlesses brag about not “passing the plate” yet they read these letters where money is demanded and the amount is based on the number of publishers. The effect is the same as passing the plate because each witless present feels obligated to contribute his/her $4.50. Is this not hypocritical?

Remember the Written Review
by 30girl inwhat exactly was the purpose of the written review?
it was extremely helpful that the society warned you on the calendars which night you had to skip... we had those boards that they passed out so you had a good writing surface, often covered with witness grafiti like, jesus or jehovah or something biblical.
remember the little grading sheet on the back; excellent, very good, good -- was there a poor?

I hated those. Now they have the "Oral Review" which sounds pretty erotic to me. I think at one point they actually did turn in the reviews.

Does anyone really have a chaperone when out with the opposite sex?
by WingCommander insomehow, i seriously doubt it.
it was spoken about when i was growing up that that was supposed to be the "loving arrangement", but i never heard, saw, or did it myself, nor did anyone else.
since i wasn't allowed out of the house, much less date until i was 16, it wasn't really an issue for me anyway.

We were always supposed to have chaperones but sometimes it just wouldn't work out (ooops!) Like when I had to drive my girlfriend home late at night and my sleeping parents didn't want to bother. Our way of getting around the chaperone is we would call her parents when we left and they would guesstimate how long it should take us. We always got there on time but, of course, hands would wander along the way.

I am Jesus incarnate and I tell you now that in the last days people will get sick, murders will murder, nations will fight other nations, children will disobey their parents, criminals will commit crimes, hateful persons will hate others. These are the signs of the last days and.........what? that has happened all the time throughout mankinds history?..........oh well.......these are the signs of the last days, run, run fast, run wherever you can, hide......no not there....somewhere else.....I'm coming......seriously I'm coming............tomorrow, or whenever, I may be late, but don't worry I'm coming. Hey! I've got a lot of things to do, stop riding my ass. No seriously I'm sick of this! I'm tired. You don't know what it's like to be the son of God, or God himself....Hell I don't even know! I've got that damn Satan to deal with and he's such and ass hole! always trying to screw with my crew. You know I wish dad would give me more G-D power. Let me blow the S out of Satan.....WTF....I can't even get prophecys right....I hate me.

What is the current light on the "Generation" issue???
by integ inon the watchtower official web site they still hold to the doctrine that "some of those alive in 1914 will be alive when the end comes" or something to that effect, which flies in the face of the 1995 wt article that speaks of "generation" as being something different.. i brought this up to a witness and she said "no way.
the society wouldn't say that".
well...they did, but what really is the current stance on this?
-
lost_light06
When was the societies web site started? I don't think it was prior to '95, in which case this old light should never have been on the site. I think they are embarrassed by the "generation" new light and hope most people won't notice.

I want to tell him everything but am worried is he too young to understand?
They would not hesitate to baptise him tomorrow so I think it is very important to tell him the truth about the "crazy cult". You probably don't want to "demonize" them though as he may think you are calling his JW family evil.
