i ran across this in the end of history and the last man by francis fukuyama.

i think it has application to the watchtowers hold on people and also the jws docile response (sheeplike in their vernacular).

The Soviet people, (the JWs and especially Ex-JWs) humiliated by their rulers and despised not only by the rest of Europe(congregation of JWs) but by their own intellectuals (fellow workers and people in the community at large) as passive accomplices of authoritarianism, proved everyone wrong.

actually, I think the committes and the GB are the "intellectuals" in this case. I think that they must take an almost giddy delight in being able to continually pass off garbage as being "spiritual food".

they sure pulled it off with the generations thing. I distinctly remember how some long time JW's I knew delighted in the "clarification" from the benevolent F&DS.

Don't the monitors ever doubt...

thinking about d8ta's excellent post reminded me of something my husband said the other day,'don't these wt monitors ever doubt the wt after reading all this stuff?

' surely there are some who, after reading pages and pages of info that cannot be written off as 'evilpostatestuff'their consciences must trouble them .

or do they really think the org will save them at armageddon, not god or jesus?

It took me all of 2 hours of surfing "apostate" websites and I was convinced - it was the happiest and saddest day of my life all in one. It would take a cold, cold, cold heart to read all of what's out there and not be affected by it.

There is a brother on the writing committee named Ray Richardson. He is from Ohio originally, I think, and he gave talks a couple of times at the KH I attended. I think that Ray would be one of the few who could read boards like this day after day and not let it affect him in the slightest. He had a personality that I would have a very hard time describing - org to his very core. He's been in the Brooklyn Ivory Tower most of his life, and he's a stone-cold believer.

I wonder if they have any of the sisters at Bethel monitor? HAHAHAHAHAH that was a joke. No woman could be cold enough to stomach all of this and still think they are in God's org.

in one of yesterday's news channels two people were interviewed about being monitored without their knowledge/consent.

one was a computor engineer and the other was a student.

the engineer was dumdfounded to know how much information they had on him.

I think that if totalitarianism pays a visit to the USA, it will come from the right, not the left. I find the Church/State union folks to be as frightening as all get out. Imagine our government becoming a self-righteous, religio-delusional, don't-question-us-because-God-appointed-us theocracy not unlike that miserable one we were fortunate enough to have escaped from!

I've often wondered how many of the experiences such as the one you quote turn out in the long run. I wonder how long the honeymoon lasted for that lady.

When I became part of God's clean organization back in 1993, I was told by friends that at a circuit assembly they attended, the CO mentioned a local experience in one of his talks that they were almost certain was a reference to me. I had jumped in head first and was a ball of fire for the "truth", it got noticed.

After 9 years and 2 near nervous breakdowns, I left. Now I am a full-blown slandering apostate. DIE Watchtower DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dateline, May 28

i have now had confirmed that dateline has booked the program outlining the jw molestation issue for tuesday, may 28th.

this looks to be a certain date unless some type of tragedy or international problem should preempt the program.

I posted a couple of days ago that I hope the segment never airs, as sometimes it seems like there is truth to the saying "there is no such thing as bad publicity" - Still not quite sure what to think, but oh yeah, I'll be watching!

Why do JWs segregate themselves?

i was wondering today about how jw are not allowed to socialize with wordly people.

how can they judge other religions if they aren't allowed to witness religous practises other than their own?

my friend is a jw, so to better understand her religion i participated in one of her religious gatherings...yet when i invited her to my church she wasn't allowed.

Seems like JW isolationism goes far beyond not socializing with non-JW's and not attending other churches.

In the congregations that I was associated with, it seemed that there was a certain pattern of secular work that many of the bros and sissies were engaged in -

Postman
Self-employed cleaning business
Self-employed power-wash business
self-employed car striping business (I think JW's have the market cornered on this one, at least in Columbus Ohio)
self-employed lawn business
construction outfit of JW's only, or mostly
truck/delivery driver

These are the types of jobs that many JW's seem the most comfortable with, as it allows them to have virtually no contact with the "world", so as not to create any doubt in their mind that the "world" is as degenerate as the F&DS continually tells them it is.

WT Paranoia Over Apostates

while reading another thread on apostates, i did a quick search on the word apostate on the wt cd.

these people are really paranoid about us!.

The sad thing is, I know long-time dubs who have read CofC and everything else that is out there. How they are still able to convince themselves that they are in God's organization is beyond me. Pure stubborn pride and grievously misplaced loyalty.

Well put. Dubbies (at least most) only care about you when they see you 3 times a week, when you're out of their sight, you're out of their mind in a hurry.

At the last 2 DC's I attended, the faithful slave provided a new and loving arrangement. Because such a problem had developed with people milling about in the corridors during the convention program, certain brothers were assigned to mill about in the corridors themselves and instruct persons to go to their seats.
