Door to Door Dangers
by Outaservice ini understand people's growing reluctance to answer their doors anymore with the crime rate soaring etc.
jw's must be a nuisance to many because of this.. however, as a jw did you ever find yourself in a dangerous situation because of calling on someone who was dangerous?
do you feel, or did you feel you would have had divine protection in such cases?

Mom studied with a woman who had six kids. Of course, the woman was looking for a free babysitter, so she asked for me to come study with her kids on Saturday mornings. What were my parents thinking of? They would drop me off for the study, and go do return visits. Once, the Grandfather was in the house, and kept urging me to come to the back bedroom to "Come see!" I was maybe 15 or 16, and that scared the crap outta me! I shudder now to think, if those kids hadn't been in the house!

1973 District Convention
by frozen one ini spent the weekend with some relatives.
they have an fairly extensive library of jw material going back 50 years in their spare bedroom.
i was looking at a few items when i found a program for the divine victory convention held in winnipeg, manitoba in 1973. the convention lasted 5 days.

Proplog, remember the soyburgers and the bags of juicy black cherries they sold at Comiskey park? You were SO cool, if you strutted back to the bleachers with bags of cherries for everyone! The soy patties were actually good. The only entertainment was watching the jets turn and bank coming into O'Hare and Midway!

Help settle a debate. Internet relationships...
by esw1966 ina stay at home dad posted on craig's list that he was looking for platonic email correspondance with a lady, someone to talk about life with, insights into relationships, a reason to turn on the computer in the morning et cetera....... my fiance occasionally finds herself seeking relationships with select people online and getting into soulful conversations with them.
she feels that people can be their truest selves in these moments.
to share the quirks of life with random fellow americans is somehow thrilling to her.

Maybe she's just a very sociable person. But I agree with Serendipity...better if she hangs out with female cyberpals. If she's considerate of her loved one's feelings, she won't press on,with this guy, out of consideration for your feelings. Because she cares about you, not because you're a man, and can pull that lame "headship" card out if all else fails to get your way! That said, if I were her, I'd have a REAL problem with a man using that headship bs on me! I certainly would not marry him!
I see possible incompatibility surfacing. She wants to be a free spirit with many friends, and you want to control her. You'll both have to compromise, or one will have to change a lot and find themself very unhappy later on.

Here we go again . . . The sky is falling! The sky is falling!
by cruzanheart ini got an email with an audio attachment (haven't listened to it) that's being passed around the witness community.
here's the written part of it anyway:.
i just wanted to let you know about an important piece of information i heard first hand, this morning (actually on a recording of a bethel representative giving a talk at the 2007 special day assembly in houston, tx).

I listened to the recording...and I found Rayford's voice absolutely hypnotic and creepy! He didn't sound like a sincere Christian minister to me, just a sinister cult preacher.

Maybe you could research Washington state on the web, visit the town's homepage, see photos. It would be nice not to have your child change schools for a long time, if ever. And, you could always visit your friends in Texas...
Best wishes, whatever you do!

Barf Alert! - Governing Body 'believes we are in the time of the end'
by drew sagan inwell looks like the governing body is getting 2007 off to a great start.
here is a little audio clip that somebody pointed out to me: .

Well, that only works on those who are scared of "the end." I'm not afraid of it; I've lived the best I can, and I'm as ready as I'll ever be, I think. Why are the Dubs so fearful about the end? Aren't they behaving themselves?

Allright, let's not jump all over Mrs. McD! I can see both sides, really. When I was 20, I would've had a cow if my Mom had wanted to know my bizness. Now, I can see why anybody would be concerned for the safety of their loved ones. It's just dangerous out there, and it's good to check in when traveling, especially alone. It wouldn't offend me at all now, if my Mom asked me to keep her posted.
I think Mrs. McD's just hurting when things aren't the same any more with her beautiful daughters, remembering their baby years and wishing things were OK again. When I first left the Hall and got my own place, my Mom said some snippy things to me, too. She just missed me, and it hurt. It's all OK now.

Kingdom Ministry School
by Outaservice inmany years ago, i attended kingdom ministry school for two weeks in chicago, illinois.
our instructor was a man i quite liked named dennis trumbore (sp ?).
he seemed quite reasonable and kind in his teaching.. i later understand he ran into a 'snag' with the society for some interpretation of scripture (in ezekiel, i think) that differed with the official watchtower views.

I remember vaguely a "Trumbo" in the Chicagoland area. Wasn't his first mane Ray? It's been years ago...

How did your family react to your decision over time?
by mavie ini'm still somewhat hopeful my family will one day 'see the light'.
in your experience, did any of your family members finally understand your reason for leaving and communicate with you as a family member and not an apostate?.

Mavie, I faded away years ago. I'm an only child, so it must've been a huge disappointment to my parents. At first, they tried to give me "care packages' with Asleep and Witchtower tucked inside, but I asked them to stop. They did, and have never shunned me. We do avoid some topics, but talk regularly. I'm very
luckyfortunate! Please tell us more of your story!I also see that you have a nice, neatly trimmed beard. They must be horrified, tee-hee!
