Yes, that article brings back bitter memories. I was the only daughter of an elder, and very much into women's issues. I would constantly ask why women had to do this or that, and men didn't. The girls in our Hall were a lot smarter than many of the boys, and yet, they boys were the future heads of the family and the congregations? Couldn't go along with that crap. I was warned by my Father, that I would never get a husband, if I didn't change my attitude to a more submissive one. I replied, "Good! I don't want one anyway, if that's what it takes!" He was very exasperated with me.

I have a husband now, and we do have our issues, but I can speak my mind because we are equals. I don't have to put a McDonald's napkin on my head to pray, and there is no head of our household, and a submissive one.

i don't like the fact that at times, false information is disseminated here.

where's the "big announcement in october"???

or we hear that the blood issue will be changed or that something big is going to be happening at the next assembly.

i've often pondered the impossibility of arguing with an armageddon-believer.

it's like, the only way you can prove they are wrong is out-wait them.

and if they refuse to set a date, well, you'd be staring the poor prophet down when you are wobbly, grey, and snaggle-toothed.

It's kind of like the mentality of trying to put up with a dreary job and counting the days till retirement. Some I've worked with are so focused on that date, they have literally worked themselves to death, and forgot to enjoy each day of life along the way! They died before it ever came.

Jgnat, believing in the imminence of Armaggeddon equates with how much faith you are showing in ~~Crooklyn~~ God.One way to prove how strong you are, is to display ( or at least talk about it) your certainty it's coming any second, and Jehoopla will take care of you. They have little barometers they judge each other by, and blathering on about Armageddon a lot is one of them.

WT monitors sites?

there was a post on the other day someone was asking about whether the wt monitors websites such as this and other "apostate" sites.. unfortunately i couldn't find it to add this to it.

i remembered a jw who worked on installing computers at london bethel, some time ago telling me that the wt did monitor websites.

this jw is gradually fading away from being one, so can't say to much about him.

Jourles, I have high speed internet thru a cable provider. My laptop is connected to a wireless Linksys router. Would the router scramble my ISPaddress, or at least make it difficult to trace me? Suffer the fools like me, lol, who don' t know a lot about computers and haven't had enough coffee!
