Double life, anyone??
by dinah inhow many of you lead double lives while growing up (especially those who grew up jw)?
in the last few days, it seems that bothers me about my adolescence.
i had to be one person for my mother, while still trying to be myself.

I was good on the outside. I went to some concerts and some parties. But mostly i was double on the inside. Thinking my evil thoughts but keeping them to myself while being a good little boy. I only started breaking out of my shell like 2 years ago.

Naughty Japanese defy WBTS and enter college.
by imfreeimfree ini was talking to a longtime faithful japanese jw who said that recently there are many young witnesses going to university.
" what about the recent dc and circuit assembly talks as well as the watchtowers, very firmly discouraging college.
the reply was " yes they are hearing but not doing "

When i was at bethel Japanese tourists would come and snap pictures. I remember thinking even then that only a few generations of them would last in "the truth." I have a feeling they will collectively wake up and the work there will drop to zero. (this might be some latent racism, but they just seemed too damned smart.)

by BlackSwan of Memphis ini wonder if its possible to formally disfellowship schizm, scholar and the other dub apologists?.
what if we unanimously decided that it was time to shun them and not respond to one word they have to say?.

A better idea would be to find out who they are and turn them in. That way they can experince the WTBS love firsthand.

Why do ex-JWs try so hard to uncover WTS dirt?
by Lady Lee infar too many times i have heard the accusation that all x-jws want to do is tear down the wts.
we scrounge around digging up every piece of information that we can that will put the wts in a bad light.
"they" being those who seek to defend the wts and forget the past because ... well it is the past and there is so much "new light".

I agree that there are many things going on here. 1. We are trained to see the flaws in things. (how many times have you joked about catholic priests and their dirty deeds?) 2. We want to keep people from making the same mistakes that we did, wasting the same amount of time. How better to do that then by pointing out what is wrong?
I have heard some real horror stories on this board. I would never want my sisters or children to have to experince those things. I might not be able to help them. But damnit if i am not going to try. Think about a company that abuses their employee's, how many web sites can you find that are ex-employee's complaining. (the infamous ex-target employee site comes to mind)
Utimately it is a fight that is pretty common, a fight against injustice.

Marriage - Why bother?
by Spectrum inyet another friend's marriage has broken down(5th), this one i did not predict at all.
it came as a shock to me.
they got married after 10 years of living together so it's not like they didn't know each other.

Haha.. Prob not she is still pretty faithful. Also your profile says you're five months old. Though youth can be beautiful that would bother me a bit. ;-)

I have always joked that marriage is a combination of self sacrifice and self preservation. But that concept has worked for us. Granted we have only been going at it for four years. (dated in good JW style(well mostly) for 3 years) But we are happy. We support each other and give each other space when needed. I think it helps that i travel for work and she is fairly independent. When i come home she is genuinely happy to see. (the cats on the other hand are not). We also have no children, which i have heard can add a lot of stress to the situation. And we never fight about money. Mainly we fight about; Each others family. (mine is controlling her's is insane), Our argumentation style, (i tend to be more logical she is more emotional), and the fact that we both hate our home state and need to leave. I think marriage can be great, it can be successful. But i don't think it is just hard work, though much is needed. It's also a matter of chemistry and psychology. You need to be a good mix of both..
