and p.s. that really pisses me off! We do about 98% of our business (and it's large) in huge relocation contracts...people moving into the DFW area needing housing--including temporary. If you don't get your deposit back, please inform me----I'll know who NOT to recommend for rental housing.

Dallas Aposta-Crawfest -- A GREAT Success!
by Elsewhere ini wanted to thank everyone who helped make this great event happen!
everyone really stepped up and helped enormously... if it were not for all of you the apasta-crawfest would not have been anywhere as great.
several people approached me discreetly to provide monetary support, which is greatly appreciated.

Darlin', thank YOU. It was awesome and we were just heartsick at having to leave early.
And yes, keep us posted! There are enough of us who dabble in and around real estate to back you up.
Thanks so much for putting it all together!
Love,
Brigid and Daystar

convention etiquette
by karvel infirst post, not sure if this is in the right section....anyway, last night's service meeting included a part about the upcoming district convention.
the usual take notes, make sure your teenagers sit with you, blah, blah, blah, was there but then they mentioned something new.
apparently now you have to wear your suit and lapel all weekend if you stay at a hotel.

In the words of a friend of DS' and mine:
THAT'S CRAP!!
albeit, not surprising.
sad. It's the closest thing to a "vacation" many witnesses can afford. you can't even relax a bit? let your hair down a little. Gods, it's reminders such as this when I cherish each breath of freedom I take now!
My guess would be they are trying through the rank and file some PR and image clean-up. Distance themselves from the "unwashed" image some still have. I would suggest promoting higher education amongst the ranks to accomplish this--not suits-and dresses. The Mormons do this (let their members obtain higher education, vote, etc.) and are still able to maintain fairly high devotion of their membership and have a far far cleaner image in the public eye.If I were running a cult, that's what I'd do, take all the great cult success stories and study then model my corporation after their business model. *sigh* alas they do not listen to me.

Is Jehovah a chick-magnet?
by PopeOfEruke ingrowing up in a divided household, i remember wondering about my jw mother and how she would dress up to the 9's when going to the meetings.
nice dress, makeup, hair done, perfume.. it would drive my non-jw father crazy and i swear that dad was jealous of jehovah.. i also personally felt that mum was dressing up almost as if for a "date".
it was somehow weird, almost sexual.. was my mum dressing up for jehovah?

I noticed she hasn't posted again... I wonder if she got picked up by a baptist cowboy willing to make that fantasy come true.
LOL! I was thinking almost the same thing! I tried to warn her about these Texas boys...they ain't shy.

Jehovah pulls off the ultimate Father-figure archetype albeit an abusive can never be pleased or appeased father. He is one of the original sky-daddies. So, some women, I suppose would be highly attracted to that in a Jungian sort of way. And yes, very quasi-sexual. Now, I crave the Father-figure as much as any gal, but give me some bad-ass Mars/Aries energy when I'm really craving a powerful male energy in a god.
For long-term god-relationships, I prefer to relate to my god(s) and equal energies--mother/father. And they get equal props on my alter.

Are JW's generally better than average people?
by JH ini for one, would blindly trust just about anyone on this forum, just the fact of knowing that you already were a jw.. does this mean that jw's in general are better people or are we a very close bunch of people?.

I have every right to decide what and when I will reveal anything.
Of course you do, darling. And no one (at least no one I've read, though I've not read all) is disputing this. Do what thou wilt. Free Will reigns supreme.
I suppose the conundrum in my mind (though I hardly care) is that JW's hold themselves out to be morally superior; following men they believe to be absolute channels of the god. But they pick and choose and "flip-flop" (hehe, I sound like a Republican) on what they deem moral as it suits them. That is all.
You are happy where you are? You find satisfaction? Your spiritual needs are being met? Then by all means, stay where you are (to quote DS, stay weak, if that's what you need), it is right where you need to be. I truly believe that religions are holding pens for souls; the more restrictive they are, well let's just say you are right where you need to be; however, to quote you:
This simple concept flies right over all too many of you.
though what you said with condescension, I say with sincerity.
again, Do what thou wilt hon. It's all any of us do.
Love and Light,
~Brigid

ARE YOU PSYCHIC..........................AND WHAT DID YOU THINK AS A JW ?
by vitty ini think all people can communicate at a higher level for eg how many can times do you and your partner think of the same thing at the same time?
or you can be thinking of a person and they ring you?.
but if you really feel that you are psychic or that you communicate with "dead people" how did you cope with it when you were a witness?.

I would have dreams and visions as a child that were yet to happen. They are usually of ordinary events. Yes, I and my mother were convinced that it was the demons. Obviously the house we had just moved into or some item we'd bought at a garage sale.
I learned to sublimate these dreams and visions and now am learning to re-claim that current that yes, we all possess a channel to. Now it is more of a strong intuition. I know when I need to call someone close to me. I get fairly good readings on people when I am in close contact with them. My favorite is dream visitations from people usually who have passed to the other side, gone on to the collective unconscious or what have you but those are the best, most restful dreams even though they are vivid and alive. Sometimes a dream of the dead is just a dream but it's the feeling upon awakening when one has truly been visited. It's like you have slept for days. It is amazing! Havent' had one in a while. I am due.
