i wonder if the body craves certainn food subconsciensly perhapse craving food which the body is lacking.
I wonder, too. If I fail to have some red meat for a few weeks, I crave it - perhaps a guard against anemia or low B-12?
Just thought of another mayo favorite:
Sourdough bread, lots of mayo, lots of sliced avocado, S & P, and lots of chopped red or white onion. The mayo holds it all on the bread. Plus a good red wine to drink while assembling the sandwich and while eating it. Oh, baby! Comfort food.

Coco,
I, too sing the praises of mayo. That most pedestrian of French sauces creates a bridge between so many disparate flavors.
Chocolate mayonnaise cake.
Caesar salad dressing.
Chicken or tuna salad.
Sandwiches of every type.
Salad dressings in general.
With extra lemon juice, a dip for artichokes.
A side dressing for cooked beets.
Slathered on pork chops, then dipped in bread crumbs and slow-baked.
With lemon, it dresses cold salmon.
Indispensible!

Funny how childhood food remains a touchstone for comfort as we grow older.
My mother used to make us sandwiches thusly:
Toasted bread, one piece spread with mayonnaise, one spread with mustard. One or two scrambled eggs fitted atop the bread, sliced pickles and tomatoes on top of that. Cheese melted on the eggs was a bonus.
So, I no longer eat bread, but craving the flavors, you know? So I made a 2-egg omelet, topped with a chopped tomato, diced sour pickles, slathered with a bit of lo-cal mayo, and a few squirts of mustard. Heaven.
And you?

Good analogy, Terry.
I would only add that the WTS employed coercion to force our continued investment of the most precious resource we had - time.
For many of us born-ins, that time given in service of the WTS's interests, was at the expense of education, experience, and important life choices.

How Long Should A Pedophile Be Shunned By The Church?
by Bubblegum Apotheosis inat what point do we know a pedophile has repented of his sin?
how long should we shun a child sex offender, should the watchtower have thrown out the sex offenders the congregation for five, ten, twenty years?
how should a congregation deal with a sex offender who thinks he has grappled and beaten his urges?.

Regardless if the pedophile is repentant or not, abuse of children is a crime that must be reported to the authorities.
Yes, I think this is the essence of the case.

FWIW:
The Turtle and the Scorpion
A turtle was happily swimming along a river when a scorpion hailed it from the shore.
“Dear friend turtle!” called the scorpion. “Please let me climb upon your back and swim me to the other side of the river!”
“No,” replied the turtle, “for if I do, you shall sting me, and I shall die.”
“Nonsense!” replied the scorpion. “If I kill you in the middle of the river, you shall sink, and I shall drown and die with you.”
The turtle thought this over, and saw the truth of the scorpion's statement. He let it upon his back and began swimming towards the other side of the river. Halfway across, he felt a sharp pain in the back of his neck.
“Why have you stung me?!” cried the turtle as his body began to stiffen. “Now you shall die as well!”
“Because it is my nature,” replied the scorpion sadly as they both sank beneath the waters.
Furthermore, the Society, in their arrogant ignorance, puts way too much stock in "repentance." Repentance connotes sinning against God and seeking forgiveness and absolution. A judgement of one's peers should not be part of the equation.

This made me awfully sad
by corpusdei injust came across this post, where a disfellowshipped blogger posted the letter from his witness mother in which she cuts off the relationship between them.
although i was the one to slam the door and cut off communication with my viper of a mother, my heart goes out to this guy - it's to their shame that the witnesses allow their religion to do this to family..

The confusing part is that some dubs are selective about adhering to the tenents of the WTS, perhaps because the WTS is also wishy-washy. On the issue of shunning relatives, the Society seems to 'tack' back and forth like a sailboat trying to catch the prevailing winds. Sometimes they are lenient, softer, kinder - but that stance is always inevitably followed by a period of cracking down - harsh, rigid, punitive.
Individual dubs are highly inconsistent in their application of the shunning dictum. My own JW mother refused to shun her children (one DFd, two disassociated) because of the WTS and ultimately wrote a letter of disassociation. My aunt (mom's sister) basically disowned and condemned her DFd daughter nearly 40 years ago, but now associates with other DFd family members.
I've known dubs who couldn't bring thremselves to put in more that 1 - 2 hours FS per month, couldn't coherently explain the Truth, but enthusiastically took to shunning like they were born to it.
I've known dubs who would rather die from lack of a blood transfusion than get up and give a talk.
I've been harshly shunned by family whom I loved and, years later, had the same family break bread with me in my home.
The inconsistency makes it all the more painful, because it does seem to be selective.
Peace - to two of my favorite posters, AG and OTWO.

How could his wife have lived under the same roof and not known what was going on? Does she care that her son was also a victim? Is there no punishment for her part in not bringing this to the authorities years earlier, thus sparing many young boys this horror?

Watchtower on the other hand, insists that their Legal Department be phoned first and believe that their uneducated magazine salesmen are qualified to handle such serious crimes. WT deserves to be sued to oblivion
for their failure to protect children.
Billy, you are so right. As I have said probably too many times - it is the WTS arrogance that has been their downfall. They think they know best - but they are not educated about these issues, nor do they seek enlightenment about that upon which they pronounce judgement.
