What affect did the Watchtower have on your emotional health?
has elicited some very sad, heart-breaking, disturbing responses. It would make a really thought-provoking news story, fleshed out with real-people's life stories. Being reminded of how much pain YET AGAIN the WTBTS has caused is so sad and depressing. It is HUGE.........there is that feeling AGAIN, that something needs to be done to stop this insanity!
i have been in the truth my whole life and tomorrow i turn 32!
the last year i have been fading and haven't been to the kh since the memorial.
i can't tell you how it has been such a heavy burden lifted off my shoulders not to have to worry about so many meetings!!!

Hey, even after 35 years out, I still occasionally reflect on a Tuesday or Thursday night or Saturday or Sunday morning or Sunday afternoon - how great it is to do whatever I want! And what a ridiculous waste of my life for 23 years to go to those meetings!

In bed asleep on the West Coast. Phone rang - it was my brother, who happened to be in Florida on business. He said, "You'll never guess what just happened! A plane crashed into the World Trade towers!" We talked a bit and then I went back to bed, thinking it was an accident. Couldn't get it out of mind though. Got up and turned on the TV - just as the second plane hit. Surreal.

Good question. Since it is associated with the evil empire, Watchtower Bullshit and Tract Society, in which I was indoctrinated and held bondage for the first 23 years of my life, it is not surprising that the name 'Jehovah' holds a negative connotation for me. Not my fault. Jehovah can blame the WTBSTS, and smite their asses for it.
Jesus, who died for our sins, never used the name Jehovah. If it was good enough for Jesus, its good enough for me, 'cause Jesus is just alright with me.

i guess since leaving the witnesses, i have become willing to listen to more things.
mainly because i learned in life, that if the religion you were raised to live and die for is wrong, and deceptive, then couldn't that be said of government and science?

I am quite comfortable with saying, "I have no effing idea if there is any validity to conspiracy theories and I don't particularly care."

Illness - perceived or self-induced. For me, there had to be a grain of truth to it. Sometimes I'd wish for illness or accident to get out of giving a talk. Probably a very unhealthy outlook.
