  for those who are in my old congregation "lurking" for me here i am ......i have gotten word through the "almighty jw gossip grapevine" someone is spying on me.. brooke autumn ehlert!.

  With all due respect, I think that is a silly and ineffective comparison that wouldn't impress a 12-year old.

  Aren't you leaving because you disagree intellectually with the methods and doctrines of the WTS? I drink beer and have smoked (both weeds) but would not say that those activities are in any way related to my leaving the organization.

  I just hate to see you play into their hands. "That Brooke - she leaves Jehovah's organization and now all she can talk about is drinkin', druggin' and fornicatin'."

  Permanent Make-Up

  are you happy you did it and how often to you have to have it touched up?.

  My eyebrows got very sparse after years of overplucking. I had to fill in with a pencil or feel very self-conscious (esp in the morning!) About 4 years ago I went to a professional in permanent cosmetics. My eyebrows are now filled in, look very natural and I am considering getting lips and eyeliner done (lightly) and maybe a little more fill in on brows. It has been well-worth the $300. No regrets. I am all for making life easier.

  Not to be a party pooper ............but doesn't this kinda perpetuate the apostate myth that we are all out of the org because we want to smoke drink, drug and "C hoose whatever you would like, I am up for anything..........."?

  Of course, maybe that is exactly the case for some......................

  The call came around 8 pm last night

  i called out to my soon to be ex, who now lives in different part of the house and told him to pick up the phone as it was his call.

  the sister and brother in law had just landed home from the district convention!!

  I think it is important to note that "last hours" "just around the corner" and "this close" have to be taken in the context of an average 70-year life span described in the Bible. In other words, if you are a spirit creature of infinite lifespan, a thousand years might be the blink of an eye. But when you tell someone whose optimal lifespan is 80-90 years that an event is "this close," you have to realize that it has to be within that window in order to have any relevance. My 87-year-old aunt just died - still witnessing in the hospice she was confined to, right up to her last breath. She really wanted to live forever - it had been her hope since she was about 14 years old. But now she has experienced the death that she was promised would not be her portion (Millions Now Living Will Never Die!) How will she know that she is not to be resurrected? She won't, of course.

  this is some hilarious tomfoolery.

  his charles manson-esque beard doesn't seem to help, either.. mel may be a powerful guy, but something tells me there'll be a price to pay for his anti-semitic remarks, even if they were made in a sauced-up state.

  Oh, my. We were so much better off when we didn't know so much about the private lives of movie actors, but simply enoyed their talents on a one-dimensional basis. Very few withstand the scrutiny of the media.

  Personally, I try to enjoy the fantasies that they create on the big screen and let it go at that. Frank Sinatra was apparently a jerk in real life. I don't care - I love his singing and acting. The same goes for a long list of celebrities. I'm not going to marry them - I just want to enjoy their artistry for a couple of hours!

  Mel, bless his socks, is a great entertainer - director, producer, actor, etc. But obviously he is also a flawed human being who should do his drinking and ranting at home.

  i attended my mother's memorial at the kingdom hall saturday afternoon.

  even with the jw sermon tagged on, my cousin did a lovely service for her.

  there were many jws and non-jws in attendence.

  JW uncle told my ex-JW mom (his sister) that she "would not be welcome" at their mother's memorial. Fiesty thing that I am, I went. All my relatives treated me with obvious disdain - well, they shunned me.

  Sad for you Merry - funerals serve an important function to the living, otherwise human beings throughout history would not have these rituals. Sorry your experience was cruelly incomplete.

  i lurked here for about 6 or 7 months, before i started posting.. i have read experience after experience in which the victim of gossip, slander, abuse in the congregation is the one who is made to feel like they are the ones who need to apologize, when they are the ones that need the apology from the perpetrators of the injustice.. .

  one theme that continues to repeat itself in the congregation is this: the victim is always wrong and the victimizer is always right.

  in the course of the article they give a little history of the sect but the juicy parts that would interest most of us here in "apostate land" are in the second half of the article.

  And we thought disfellowshipping and shunning was bad! At least our cheese supply would remain constant.

  I used to read this stuff and think, "Why do these experiences always happen in some faraway place, with such simple folk who only want to learn the truth, and instinctively seem to know that they will learn it from the JWs?"

  Whereas in my reality, householders were either mildly annoyed at being intruded upon or downright hostile. None seemed to be thirsting for the truth I had in my bookbag. It must be my fault!

  Now, methinks that the Brooklyn writing department takes huge creative liberties. Any grain of truth in these fantasies is tiny indeed. IOW - what a load of crap!

  i will try to make a long story short.

  me and my wife (faithful jw) had a problem with an evil pioneer sister elder's wife in our former hall.

  through the course of trying to work it out we decided we would be better off in another hall.

  Yes, Blondie. Had a rare encounter yesterday that I will post in full another time. Sweet person, but not getting through the impenetrable shield of JW-speak. "Imperfect men. Imperfect men. Imperfect men." But - follow them anyway! These are the men that God has chosen to determine life or death for all of us? So, so sad - how people have given up their free-will and ability to think rationally.
