(Try again!)
Guntersville,
rest of the post:
Guntersville,
What I am saying...for all his (Raymond Franz) ranting and raving he did not say much to convince me that the WTS is such a bad and evil place.
he is just a bitter, twisted old man.
Kero, I still am not convinced that you’ve read his book. I have read his book. I also met
RF and spent 3 days with him, his wife and several other ex-JWs who wanted to fellowship and organize. This was in Guntersville,
(Sorry for the highjack)
i'm obsessed with new cars.
i'd trade a $50,000 car for a brand new $40,000 one the year after, and trade it again for a $30,000 brand new one the year later, and trade it again for a $20,000 one year after that.
as long as i get a new one every year or so, i love the feeling, even if it's less equipped.
i'm obessed with words. syntax. ponctuation.describing things with new words.
like in my little propitious microcosm of perpetual libation, i capitulate to the gods of jwd.
the things is, english is not my first language, so i likely use them out of context.
i also like sex alot.
calliopé
LOL!
every so often, you'll see a jw come onto these sites and bash us because we're only looking at the negatives regarding the witnesses.
i don't think we are unfair at all.
at least we speak the "truth".
It's always, "We have too many meetings," or "I just gave a talk!" or "I raised my hand five times at the Watchtower study and no one called on me."
And how about, "That snooty sister BigAss looked right at me after the WT study and didn't speak to me! Huh! Well, Jehovah knows her heart condition!"
(BTW, for newer ones here, "heart condition" was not a medical term, but a phrase that was used to criticize each other by using Jehoober.)
if you were dragged to meetings as a teenager (as i was), how did you get through the tedium of the 5-plus meeting hours a week?
i'm compiling a short primer for those still stuck in the meeting rut to help them survive the misery of boring, droning, and inept speakers week after week (at least until they're ready to chuck the meetings entirely).
how i got through meetings as a teen: .
Sometimes I would actually get carried away reading the Bible. But not necessarily the scriptures under discussion, but reading like several pages and finding it kind of interesting.
Of course, I felt guilty - after all, I was there to study the WT, not the Bible!

I'm obsessed with taking the trouble to define words, concepts, etc. precisely so that when I have a conversation we both know what we're talking about.I'm obsessed with using different ways of emphasizing my sentences.
Me,
too,
I eventually reads Raymond Franz's book a few days ago....and if anything it sounded to me the views of a bitter old man....His words to me seemed immature. He descibed a few faults with the WTS, which is no more than saying to someone....you only scored 98% percent in an exam...so let me concentrate on the 2% percent you did wrong. For me...it is a reason for staying a JW if he can only produce so much little 'dirt' from the top.Kero - I can't let this go unchallenged either. Are you saying that the WTS is 98% the truth? And only 2% wrong? Or the other way around?
Please respond with examples regarding C of C.
i just want to put the world on notice.
the next time you open the door and see a jw standing there with a watchtower about armageddon and an awake about butterflies dont turn him away!!!
do not say im not interested.
I liked the bit about the tiger lilies.................
Seriously, why doesn't the WTS just take out a newspaper ad or do some radio and TV spots, direct mail, or even an Al Gore-type movie giving notice to the entire planet? It would save gas and dub shoe-leather. Too easy?
from the "official" wt site comes this gem:.
for a man who was a child molester before he was baptized, there may be another consequence.
when he learns the truth, he repents and turns around, not bringing that cruel sin into the congregation.
This is disturbing. It indicates that, even with all the attention brought upon them by this issue, the WTS has not bothered to become informed about the facts of child molestation. What they have written is at best incredibly ignorant and at worst does an end-run around the justice system that is in place to handle these criminal acts.
I am by no means an expert, but I was with an agency for 4 years that did counseling for the children and the molesters and also coordinated the investigation of alleged child sexual abuse with medical, law enforcement and judicial entities. I sat behind the one-way mirrors with detectives and taped the forensic psychological interviews with the victims.
I asked several of my professional colleagues (especially those who counseled child molesters) the following question: "Can a pedophile be rehabilitated?" The short answer is: "No. If the pedophile is motivated and can be convinced that what they do hurts children, the pedophile can embark on a life-long course of behvioral modification that requires extreme vigilence to controlling their fantasies about children, regular counseling, and adherence to parole instructions to avoid being in the proximity of children or anyplace that children would be expected to be found such as schools, parks, playgrounds, etc."
Child molesters have no place being inside a KH, where they could easily be sitting next to or near a child. This should never happen! Also, JW children could be assumed to trust someone they knew from the KH and could therefore be vulnerable to being "groomed" by a pedophile. These guys are cunning, instinctive and patient. Shame on the WTS for contributing to the perpetuation and cover up of these horrible crimes. It is said that child molestation is equivalent to the "murder of a child's soul."
