A bit reluctant
by saki2fifty ini'm a bit reluctant in writing this post, for i dont feel i should be here.
even a bit nervous... .
i've never officially dedicated myself to jehovah, but i was brought up in the truth, very strong, and at times when getting older, there were lulls in my attendance... yet to this day i still attend.

Let's get out while we still can. I certainly intend to after this post.
Hummingbird - it's like eating potato chips, isn't it? Just can't stop. Don't make promises you can't keep. Oooops! But you learned that from the WTS, didn't you?

How big is the Watchtower carrot?
by Honesty ini don't want to brag, but i have good news!
one of the elders said that i progressed considerably in reading and that after i get baptized, he wants to use me as the brother that reads the paragraphs in the watchtower study.
i went from being frightened of raising my hand to comment, to the possibility of me being the one reading the study for the congregation.

thinkin of goin back
by searching4truth ini was df bout a year back and have since been enlightened by a life long friend.
i am leaning toward returning anyway but mostly for familyand friends.
i recognize the hypocrisy of this move but also don't feel that i should be subject to there authority and in my current state i am.

The real impact of "apostate" sites
by dozy inin a recent discussion with a couple of district overseers and other heavies , the topic of the internet and apostate sites came up.
i asked what impact these were making , numerically , among jws.
the prevailing view was that , numerically , there was negligible impact.

Very interesting to speculate on this question.
WHAT WE DO KNOW FOR SURE:
1) That, just like apostates, there is no "typical JW."
2) That there are some JWs who will NEVER be influenced by apostate internet sites.
3) That the access and influence of the internet is not going to diminish but will increase in all areas of modern life, for all people.
4) That many doubters have left and will leave the organization based on the information and emotional support that they find on apostate sites.
WHAT WE DON'T KNOW ARE THE NUMBERS.

We young pioneers liked Foster's Freeze - we tried to wait until at least 10:30 am to have taquitos - corn tortillas wrapped tightly around a meat filling and deep-fried and then eaten dipped in a thin guacomole. Heaven! But I always thought food never tasted better than after service or after a meeting. A reconnect with the real world and temporary freedom.

Did they ever want d/f`d people viewed as dead?
by jambon1 ini think there was a wt/km reference on here at one time which stated that disfellowshipped individuals should be viewed as 'dead'.
can someone please post me the link to some of the wt quotes relating to how d/f`d people should be viewed.
it is very important to me.

My aunt and uncle, strong JWs, told their df'd daughter, "You are as dead to us."

Saki,
Welcome and thank you for expressing your feelings with so much honesty. It must not have been easy, especially since you were apprehensive about our reception of your post. Happily, your courage and your respectful and sincere tone has earned you a like response. I hope you continue to visit and seek answers to your questions.
I, too was raised in the organization, and was so terribly shy I could barely speak, but left when I was 23. I understand the dilemma of leaving a large family, and a way of life that was comfortable and felt secure. Why would anyone choose to do that? I believe there comes a point for all of us that the balance scale tips - and that staying in is more uncomfortable than leaving. It is different for each person, but it only has to be the difference of 49/51 percent to take that leap.
And it is a leap to jump from so much certainty to so much uncertainty. The WTS is absolutely certain about everything that they teach. But are you? That is all that matters. I wonder what response you get from the brothers when you ask your questions about WT inconsistencies? I would imagine you are referred back to the literature - a circular path that is ultimately not very satisfying. Or are you afraid to ask questions of the brothers?
Life is a beautiful gift. And your relationship with God is something no one can take away from you. Sadly, it is extremely common among JWs to get God and the WTS confused. They really are two very different things.

Yeah, go with undercover and JWdaughter.
You believe in honesty and kindness, yes? You believe in your children, yes? You believe in treating others as you would be treated, yes? Add some more and describe them in spiritual terms....................maybe a little about being anti-organized religion, if you are. Start writing - stream of consciousness. You can do it!
