in about 2 weeks i have the opportunity to go on a camping trip to the 1000 islands.

i've seen pictures of it and always wanted to go there.

and now it looks like it will be something good to happen in my life.

after everything i had ever believed unassailable proved to be as a wisp of smoke in the breeze, i was forced to asnswe that question.. since i no longer stand for the wts, what do i stand for.. my lifetime of misery would be a complete waste if there isn't some positive way to frame it.. i figure, we come into this world kicking, screaming, naked, wet, and cold.

we have nothing, not even a name.. our name is the first thing we get, and it has no meaning until we provide the context with our lives.. when we die, our name and what it has come to mean is all we can take out of this world with us; he who dies with the most toys still dies and gets no further benefit from his worldy goods.. so, what do we stand for, what shall our name mean.. i have not had the most optimal life, i suppose, periods of submersion in the wts fantasy world interspersed with episodes of incredible violence and deprivation.

i have both been the victim of harm, and regretably inflicted my fair share of harm as well.. i have made choices so stupid that it was all i could do to set things right and live them down.. i have had a corrupted view of reality while under the spell of the wts that affected me equally whether i was in or out, either way i was damned.. i never expected to live, the big a was just around the corner and there were all these pesky bullets whizzing past my head and a knife in me; but here i was in my thirties with a second chance.. a relatively clean break.. of course, i was now confined to a wheelchair and poor with bad credit, but i was at rock bottom so the only way to go was up.. it could have been worse, i never picked up a criminal record, even though i rightfully deserved one.. what to stand for.... one has to stand for something.

i'm really intrigued by that fact that i may know some of you and yet not know that i know you.

i just want to know how many people from canada are here.

if you don't mind and don't care about posting your province (cause i'm too timid to) we could all get an idea of just how many canucks are really out there.

i just learned that a childhood witness friend, rusty, just passed away.

he was 60 and had suffered from a heart condition for many years.

Gordy my math tells me he will be 32 this October.

I experienced the same thing back in the fifties and sixties about school and pension plans i am now 68.

i read most of the posts on here and i was just trying to get an understanding on certain topics.

i read some peoples material and why they dont believe in the jw faith.

i understand that some people left the jw faith and some people on here may never have been jws or believed in it, so i understand why you post and give info back and forth, but i have trouble understanding some of the disfellowshipped ones on here.

who in your kindom hall got away with the way they acted or things they did, just because they were a jw, and what was it?.

The P O's son and daughter in law. This was before the elder arrangement. The d i l carried on an affair with my brother for years before they got caught. The were privately reproved no-one else knew about it. There was no repentance at all and they were only sorry because they got caught.

Need Some Advice...Thanks...

i am the primary companion and caregiver of my elderly parents,78 and 80..i am also disfellowshipped.i was baptised 2 months after i turned 12.got df'd at 31...now that my parents are really starting to need me,and i am enjoying them as people,the jws are starting the crap about them not being able to associate w/me again..its really hard to have an intelligent discussion w/a group of people whos basic recourse is "bcz the bible tells me so"...but i really want to be able to care for and enjoy my parents during these final few years that they have left..my father is stepping down as an elder bcz of the turmoil,and also cause hes just getting too old to want to deal w/it..but thats not enough for the dubs...they want total separation...anyone have any advice or tools that i might be able to use?

i know,i know,its awfully tempting to just cheerfully suggest that they kiss my butt,but this is a real issue..i have to find a smart creative way to deal w/it..i know that some of you out there are smart and creative and have dealt w/issues such as this..i need to hear from ya...like ,could i get my baptism,{at 12 yrs old] annulled?

do the dubs honor legal documents?

Do whatever you have to do to protect them and yourself. It is not an easy task looking after aged

parents as my wife and I did for many years.

compact fluorescent lamp warning.

there are probably alot of us using the small spiral shaped compact fluorescent lamps in our houses.

i did not realize they have mercury in them and can be a bit of problem if one breaks.

it is also illegal to dispose of them in our regular garbage cans.

As of 2012 they are banned from being sold.
