  i would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your valued input on this board.

  i will never forgive you for making it almost impossible for me to give up coming here.

  Thanks 68storm for your observations. You'll get few objections from the people on this board.

  As larc said, no one is going to judge you based on your educational credentials, or lack thereof. Just as long as your posts are educated, which clearly yours are.

  However, I do have one objection to raise. You said:

  Well, maybe you are right about the spirituality part (), but I have to disagree with you on the compassion part. Why do you suppose atheists would not be compassionate? Compassion is not something that is the sole perrogative of religious people, all people of all belief (or lack of belief) systems are capable of and show compassion all the time. Caring for your fellow man has little to do with god, as even you observed that JW's, who most definitely believe in god, can be very lacking in that department. Compassion has alot to do with how you view other people and the rest of the world, and can be practiced by the religious and non- religious alike.

  Atheism's view on death

  well, it's winter, and it's just a bit more depressing this time of year, and i'm thinking about death.

  i wonder, what do atheists believe about death?

  do you believe in any way that a 'spirit' lives on?

  My personal view of an afterlife is somewhat agnostic. Since I see no positive evidence that there is life after death, I've got to live with the assumption that this life is the only one. If it happens to be true that there is an "afterlife" and I make it, then great, but if there's nothing, then I suppose I'll be as affected by it as I was for the eternity before I existed .

  As far as death is concerned, I hope that I will be able to live to a fairly old age before the inevitable happens, but of course you can't fully control that. I just try to be as good a person as I can be, and be a positive influence on those I know. There's not much else that anyone can do, whether they believe in god or not.

  jjrizo, wow, a handful of stuff (exposed by evolutionist, nontheless) as compared to the innumerable amount of stuff that is in support of evolution.

  Of course, the fact that there is no proof that the earth (and/ or life) was created by divine fiat circa 6000-10000 years ago, and that all the evidence presented by creationist to that effect is false, totally misses your perception.

  rem, you may be right about 19, but it was all I could come up with .

  #31 I almost didn't get, I had to dig deep into the memory bank for that one, as it has been many years since I've seen a game. My dad is from the Caribbean, and still follows it though, but I'm definitely more versed in the strategy of a baseball game, for sure. (hey, the Giants are only one win away!)

  Funny how these groups that claim to have all the answers seem to be the most adamant against questioning and scrutiny by others. If you're afraid of some guy with thick glasses wearing dirty underwear running a minor website picking apart your theology, then you're in more trouble than your lawyers can bail you out of .

  DakotaRed, you heretic, get thee out of this thread!!!

  Man, so many moments, I can't pick a favourite.

  I really like the who shot Mr. Burns mini series. I think those secondary characters are exceptionally funny, too.

  Gil is good, but Disko Stu and the Duff Beer man crack me up whenever they appear. Hopefully, there is no World Series game this Sunday night (the Yankees aren't there afterall . Yes, I'm from NYC, so I'm not just a "carpet bagger" fan.).
