Interesting the reaction they are in fear of from a movie that includes a rape scene.

seems a 54 year old british school teacher who is teaching grammer school classes in the sudan has committed a despicable act by blastpheming and showing no respect for the prophet!
can you believe it; she actually allowed the children in her class to name a teddy bear being used in a class project muhammad!!
the sudanise government, carrying out its god given duty is putting her on trial.

Bek,
I'm not sure if the US has more lousy parents than other countries, but we have our share. The majority of people in my community who have kids are divorced. What do they do on the weekend? Get out and party. Who has their kids? It used to be me until I just couldn't handle a house full anymore.
Of the folks I know who have children and are still married, work takes up the majority of their time. When both parents work, it's hard to find time to help with homework. A mother can have great intentions, but there's laundry to do and dinner to cook. What ticks me off is when my kid comes home with 2 hours of homework and they spent classtime watching a freaking movie. I was thinking they could watch a movie at home!! This really happened, I'm not making it up.
All that being said our public education here needs a complete overhaul.

That's because schools spend their time teaching students to pass a standardized test. In Alabama, high school students must pass a graduation exam to graduate. We were the first class to take it and I passed it at the beginning of 11th grade. I didn't really learn anything new my senior year. I made straight A's and took alot of naps. Now students have the option to go for an advanced diploma. Wish we had that when I was still in school, I might've learned something.
I wonder how the numbers would be if only the academic top 10% only took the test. That would probably change the results. Everyone can't be an achiever. Somebody has to work at Wal-Mart and McDonalds.

It's about 10 minutes long, but funny.
growing up amongst jws, i saw the core beliefs as a threat.
be a jw, or die horribly.
but no one i knew ever admitted this, it was all about 'loving jehovah'.
It was fear for me. That fear held me captive for about 15 years after I left--or rather was shown the door.
As far as religions that contradict (or twist) the bible, I would put the JW very close to the top.
ok i have about 4 friends who don't know that i am out of the org.
because there is 3000 miles between us and the subject has not come up.. well one of them has emailed me a jpg copy of each page of the public edition of the wt.. i was feeling a little ornery, and i replied back.
i said wow having a private copy and then a public copy of the wt makes me feel like a secret agent.
lol @ Zack
as the holiday season approaches, we often hear the term "bad gifts" or "useless gifts" being thrown around in stories of christmas past.
i was sitting and thinking of different gift ideas and stories i heard in my life, that truly stink or are just plain irritating.
if the thought counted, then these gifts are thoughtless.
My husband's company cut out Christmas bonuses this year. That's cheap! We usually get around $300-400 to help with Christmas. The place has been sold twice in the last two years. Guess we are just on our own this year.
I just cannot fathom why Ohio State is ranked #1. The whole bowl picture seems screwed up this year. They've got Kansas higher than Missouri even after their big game two weeks ago. Oh well, LSU will be able to man-handle Ohio State.
Even Bama got invited to a bowl. After the last four games of the season, I don't think we deserve to go to one. I guess we just got invited because we are "Alabama" with all that tradition and stuff.
On a happy note Sylvester Croom is taking his Mississippi State Bulldogs to a bowl.
Dawg, I'm surprised GA wasnt ranked higher than four. This ranking system has GOT TO GO. Its the most ridiculous berth system in NCAA sports.
Go SEC teams--give 'em hell! errr hades
i'd buy you a green dress, but not a real green dress, that's cruel.
i'm paying bills...is it my imagination or do they seem to grow right before the holidays?
santa should visit parents, first, in early november, with a check!.
I've always wanted a monkey.
