Freshly plowed dirt. I always loved gardening time. Picking pimento pepper. Hitting my Dad with a rotten one and him laughing. Most kids woulda toted an ass-whoopin'.
My Dad playing music loud. We both love the Stones and Waylon Jennings (what a pair--lol).
Taking my kids swimming last summer, picnic lunch and all. God, we had fun.

Funny mud pie story. I have a first cousin who is 6 months older than me. Her sister was four years younger than us.
She would make mud pies, then we would ride our bikes through them. She would run to my aunt in tears. We still laugh about that. It came up at our Thanksgiving dinner. She says we are the reason why she is so mean. I think we just taught her to stand up for herself. She's awesome,
My best memories are sleeping really late during summer vacation, that first time you get to go outside barefoot, and playing in the rain during the spring. I still do the rain thingy with my kids.

Bless your heart. You seem to be at a crossroads and are a deer stuck in headlights. Take some time to really read the bible on your own with prayer. You draw close to Him, He draws close to you. There is really no need for the little men in black (GB).
The only time He actually helped me was when I stopped praying to get back into the org. I finally prayed for some understanding and I got a measure of it. I don't understand everything, but I got enough to keep from going crazy.
Take things slow and open your eyes. It's almost like waking up in the morning, the light hurts----at first.

There are alot of similarities. I remember when I was researching several years ago I found seven religions that were connected. I remember Morman, JW, Seventh Day Advent, Christadelphian, and Worldwide Church of God being connected through Russell somehow--can't remember the others and dont feel like searching for my notebook.

from the saudies, to the people in irag, iran and anywhere else our sons will need to be sent.. our current president claims he is influenced along with the former prime minister of england by religious beliefs.. there is the huge evangelical influence that got bush and the mess he made who put them in to begin with.. we have the jw's causing absolute havic in anyone's lives connected with this stupidity.. it goes on and on and on.
This is a great thread. Reading everyone's thoughts helps put things in perspective.
I would propose not getting rid of religion, but rather something that would make individuals accountable for injustices done in the name of God. Make religion quit hiding and answer for all the evil it does. That would probably do more to bring folks to Christ. When people see all the atrocities committed in God's name it reflects badly on Him.
Something along the lines of stopping their tax exempt status, and stopping the ones (like the WT) who harm people. Religion shouldn't have the power to make someone end their life (like refusing a blood transfusion) just because the religious power says so.
As far as the evangelicals who elected Bush, that is why I ceased listening to them. They seem to think it's better to kill thousands and thousands of civilians (as long as its not on US soil) than to let a woman get an abortion or let gay people have legal rights as partners. They have NO REALITY when it comes to sanctity of life---only sanctity of their way of life, which imho, relishes looking down on everyone else to makes themselves feel better.
I got kicked off a yahoo group for calling GW a bastard. Maybe he is their god? Is so, God help them. They were so active in getting him elected. All they could talk about was God didn't make Adam and Steve and all the baby killers. There are many more issues facing humanity right now that are much more important.
Religion gives to much power to the men who need it least. Give me a small group anyday.

i am if it is the norm, but in my teenage years i must admit, i ahd no problem in going beyond kissing with quite a few jw girls, some even pioneers and talking to some fellow male jw teenagers at the time, many other where for sure going beyond kissing, makes you wonder how many jw's who get married are actually virgins, on a side note i also landed up in front of a committe one time for well bonking and hey i am sure they only do these so that they can here all the nitty gritty of illicit sex for soem reason or another, by the way i pulled the wool over their eyes and still remaind a bit of alad, lol.
When I was a teen and still active in the congregation, there would be a talk about sexual immorality at least twice a month. Also, they would give statistics that told the majority of people who were kicked out where df'd for sexual matters.
