by dinah inbear with me, i'm "impaired".. why is it some of us seem to move on with scars hidden, some fall apart, some fall apart and pick up their pieces and walk away somewhat whole.. what is it about our individual emotional/mental make-up that affects how we deal with this crap?
some self-destruct, some fight self-destruction, some don't give a shit.. you can take some kids and put them in a meeting about death and doom and they don't take it to heart, some do.
my whole problem was hurting for all those peeps that jehover was gonna kill.

We Should Give Newbies the Benefit of the Doubt
by flipper inconsidering what has gone on at this board the last couple months, i thought this would be good to discuss !
it's true that some here are somewhat jaded and untrusting of others because of the deception pulled by " trevor" and the whole " trevorgate " thing.
that being said and acknowledged however , think about what makes us not trust others as ex-witnesses.

When someone does a hit and run, floods the board with posts, and gives vague answers that could be construed as true.
Thank you guys for sticking with me. When I first joined I poured my heart out and was welcomed warmly. Of course I had been there done that, knew some of the lingo.

It's hard to trust in the first place, but people like Trevor make it harder. The JW's who come around and bait us and get us into arguments are aggravating and just stir up anger. No one is winning us back to that God-forsaken organization by now.
Maybe we shouldn't be so quick to judge and start giving the trolls more rope. Anyone who isn't a troll won't hang themselves------hopefully. Thing is it's hard to tell the difference and I would hate to see just one person who is sincerely hurting be cast aside or ran off the board by skepticism.

Purps, I gotta read that book.
Be glad you weren't raised a Witness. You would have been constantly reminded you didn't deserve God's love but he still gave it to you (IF you followed their rules).
Thinking about watching tormented souls self-destruct, I can think of a few examples: Curt Cobain, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix--just about of my favorite dead rockers. If you listen to their songs you can hear their tormented souls crying out. I listen because I can identify with their pain. Sad songs, wistful lyrics usually make me feel a little better. Weird, huh?
One of my faves written by a tormented person, it's Nirvana.

Sensitive Child
by Bobbi inso... my condo complex is getting some badly needed new lighting.
finally, the tall new lights are installed and they are removing the much shorter older lights.
they left them laid on the ground for a few hours while they dug up the old bases.

Hey Bobbi,
This sounds like typical 2-year-old behavior to me. Maybe he's a little on the sensitive side, but two year olds generally hate change. Usually if you can get their mind off it for awhile they'll adjust. It's been awhile since I've had a two year old. Some days were good, others were closer a nuclear (I cant spell it, but Bush can't say it--LOL) meltdown.
Sounds like you handled the situation just fine. I'm sure we all drove our mothers a little nuts when we were two.

I'd go to college, get a Ph.D. in Psychology and help the ex-jw's pick up the pieces. Then write a book about all the hurt and distribute it free.
Then I'd live happily ever after.......

Donations to Go Down?
by metatron init's utterly amazing that the society has bamboozled publishers into thinking that all of its cutbacks.
are somehow not related to a lack of donations.. perhaps this will be tested in the next few years as gasoline, food, and other essentials go way.
up in price while wages stay stagnant.

I agree with Sir 82. The paragraph he wrote could have come straight from a WT.
It only stands to reason that donations will go down. It takes more and more everyday just to get the necessities. With us, there would be nothing left to give them already. Also, I wonder how gas prices are going to affect the door-to-door circus, especially in rural areas. My guess is JW's will turn into telemarketers. Then they have to worry about the do-not-call list, spend money in court to establish their right to harrass people........ interesting.
