Psychology of prayer
by Introspection init seems there has been much talk on prayer lately, and i thought it would be helpful for us to discuss the psychological nuts and bolts, without getting into the realm of religious belief.
regardless of whether the source of change is human or divine mind, i think we can agree that the mind is a powerful thing, capable of affecting real change.. my guess is most of us don't pray for money or material things, but those of us who do basically ask for two things: direction and strength, or you might say knowledge and power.
i recall that as jws, we were taught to be specific in our prayers.

Intro-yes a very good topic-that being said probably won't
get much air play. I hope I'm wrong.
Thy will be done-thy will be done-thy will be done
Finding it hard to pray a lot , the ones that I notice too be
answered are the ones where I say " Well it's me I'm again
in this very dark place and its getting darker". I tell the Great
One what the story is knowing full well how I want things to
go.But althourgh the prayer saying I'm putting it all in your
hands what ever you want. HE always seems to answer
but not once has it been the answer I wanted at the time.
Garth Brooks says some of "Gods greatest gifts are
unanswered prayers". I've come to believe in a very short
time[ever since HE showed me the light-4 months ago]
That whom ever but this whole universe in order and keeps
it there does answer. Most of the time we humans who
say he doesn't are really saying I don't like your answer
so I'll go it alone.

Governing Body Exit Doors
by Skimmer inconsider the exit doors for the governing body.. we know that there was no authoritative governing body before 1976, so i will limit the scope of this thought to the time since then.
how do members leave the governing body?.
exit door number one: death; taken by most.. exit door number two: disgrace; taken by a couple.. exit door number three: triumph; taken by raymond franz.. has it ever been the case where a governing body member has left because of senility?

Moxy you are being sarcastic about franz and the fluent
in hebrew and greek remark? RIGHT
According to court documents he wasn't fluent in
hebrew when he was in his prime.
As for greek he studied for TWO years.
You were being sarcastic-right -

Walk like a man
I remember how rough your hand felt on mine
On my wedding day
And the tears cried on my shoulder
I couldn't turn away
Well so much has happened to me
That I don't understand
All I can think of is being five years old
following behind you at the beach
Tracing your footprints in the sand
Trying to walk like a manWell now the years have gone and I've grown
From that seed you've sown
But I didn't think there'd be so many steps
I'd have to learn on my own
Well I was young and I didn't know what to do
When I saw your best steps stolen away from you
Now I'll do what I can
I'll walk like a man
And I'll keep on walkin'' The Boss'
My dad can hardly hear or see anymore
He was once such a giant OF A man
Now he just a GIANT MAN -

What a bunch of wonderful and strong women we have here.
Hey what thread was this on?
Tom I have a mother much like yours.
The way I see it nothing you did to your mom helped her
at all. Except the fact that you decided to come back in
her life. Really other than some kind of physical abuse
why would a son not stay in contact with his mom.
Don't give me all that mental physco crap-I got enough from
my mom. I never distanced myself from her even though
with her blinders tightly on she has distanced her self from me.
But I still see her because of the "moment"., Your mom
changed because of that very moment at the rest stop
nothing else. So i continue to be in contact with my mom
so as not to miss that "moment"-I know it will come.
I pray for it too-but i know there is nothing i can do to bring
it on. But i trully do not want to miss it

i am new
by knight ini have read the various posts here an i have my own story to tell i amstill a witness not as active as i used to be but stillfaithful i think the main problem that jws have is that they put c.o's m.s's elders and the like on pedestals and when you do that you set yourself up for a letdown and when that person does something you dont think is right you are letdown but one should not let this block his/her relationship with jehovah.

Steve, no I won't waste my time with a lenghty response.
There is know use Chris's blinders are still firmly in
place. You, Larc, Outnfree, have all made outstantding
points. How could I better them? Like Larc said Chris
does not respond to the questions anyway. Following
the example of all in the "DARKNESS" who change
the subject when pushed on doctrine.
But Chris I'll leave you with this. Please pick-up another
version of the bible, I really don't care who's just not
the catholic one or Freddies[which you already have].
Pray for HIS spirit to be with you-open to the book of
1 John and start reading-not like a story book-but read
each verse like HE is talking to you. Ask yourself what is
HE telling me. If after reading there is a glimpse of light
than go to the gospel of John-always praying for HIS spirit
to be with you.
I am waiting to see you in the LIGHT, I know Stephen is too.
As for Larc and Outnfree I can't speak for them.Other than
saying they each but in a lot ot time and effort in trying to
enlighten you more of what is written .
May you find the "TRUTH" because it trully will set you free.

Mat; 24:48-51
Chris are you still there?
This scripture is a parabale is it not?
anyway
Faithful slave-Russell
Evil slave-Ruthreford-turned organization 180 degrees from
where Russell was taking them; also from things I have
read Rutherford had a big big drinking problem among
many other things but the scripture says drunkereds so
thats why I mentioned that one.
Then the evil slave will be cut assounder-Luke NKJV
or in two-Matthew NKJV. check the greek these are closer.
Question what recently happened to the GB-they resigned
[cut in two]. Now I'm not saying I'm inspired on this issue
but according to the way the insight book makes many of its
arguments by thus and so -evidently means this. Why can't
I ? After all I can not have a worse record than the society
to my knowledge they have not got anything right yet.

Chris; sorry I dropped out of this debate, but it seems smarter
minds than mine continued on with it. But you asked me
a question on the first page and I would like to answer it
for you. Your question was what was my point ? Simple really
the stooges could not answer the very same question you
are trying to defend here-they changed the subject.
One thing about the debate since I left the room. I believe
you said something about the early organized chruch.
Paul came and debated with the mighty chairmen Peter
himself. Peter said yep your right. Did Peter say do you
know who your talking too? I spent over three years side
by side our LORD and SAVIOR. Who are you? Was there
any conspirecy set up to discredit Paul-after all Peter had
the power to do so. Point-when if ever has the GB ever
listened to anyone even if that one belongs to the FDS
or have they instead tried to discredit all other thoughts.
Conspired to make them look apostate although they
were not. I'm pretty sure Paul would have applauded
Ray Franz. It's a shame Peter wasn't there nope only
Uncle Fred.
