Just a feeble attempt at humor.

once, discussing the recently passed circuit assembly.
he had interviewed a young pioneer that was able to pioneer without a car.
she "arranged her schedule" (translation: bummed rides well in advance) to make sure she had a way to and from the hall.
misspeaches, thank you for sharing that! I has similar experiences where elders would ask me what spiritual goals I had. I gave them the same cookie cutter answers: get more privleges, work to being appointed an MS, more hours in the ministry. Oh how my answers would warm their heart!
.
we did tv programmes yesterday so lets do songs today.. away in a manger
what a shame about me

I was on a DC part about 4-5 years ago. The brother who "aided me into the Truth" and I related the experience about how I was before I became a JW. The purpose was to get a sense of how worldly I was before I found the truth and what changes I made to meet the requirements of the WTS... I mean Jehovah God.
Problem was, I really wasn't the worldy sort as what I think serious JWs consider worldly. I did some drinking and I still do some drinking, I did smoke and I quit, I practiced karate so I was involved with "spiritism." I felt that we exaggerated some of the things I used to do to add dramatic value. After the part, I got a lot of people coming up to me and told me how I was such an encouragement to them; I felt like sh*t. To this day I still feel like I'm the same old person who made minor changes in my lifestyle in order to make a major mistake for becoming a JW. I'm pissed at myself for being able to get away with deceiving people and knowing that the society is getting away by publishing and relating experiences that are so exaggerated that and untrue in order to control people by giving them false hopes.
i tried to edit part 6, but once again the system ate my notes.
so i will try here.. talk # 22: trust the faithful and discreet slave - brother sico .
synopsis: we can trust the faithful and discreet slave (fds).
About 2 weeks ago at the book study a sister made the comment that we should not show any allegiance to the beast (UN) and not to meddle in any of its affairs (except when you want access its library?). I felt my face tighten up and just felt disgusted about the whole WTS being an NGO. I was reading that day too, so I'm sure someone noticed my expression.
Those experiences kill me also. I love how they just make it vauge enough in order to prove a point, and how most people just eat them up as being true.
Sir, I also thank you for sharing your notes with us. You have certainly enlightned me!
overtime, overtime!
the thing that was a kill-joy for me was going overtime, just ask my wife and kids.
my entire day would be ruined.
Use of cliches during talk, comments "from the heart", prayers, etc.... Phrases like "This helps us to appreciate...", "This is timely information...", "We have a wonderful banquet of spirtual food prepared for us today.", "A thrilling account..", " An electrifying talk.." I'm sure there are more.
i don't know if this thread has been done before, but can anybody think of times that jehovah's witnesses were made mention of or joked about in music, tv, or movies?
for example, there are a couple of simpsons episodes, one were marge alludes to being so desperate for company that jehovah's witnesses ran away when she went to get them more lemonade.
another time, two jw's approach the simpsons' house and one turns to the other just before ringing the doorbell and asks "ruby, do you ever think we should get real jobs?".
There was a "King of Queens"episode where Doug's neighbor got him involved in a pyramid scheme by selling water filters. Doug got Arthur involved and both of them were desperatelly doing what they could to get people to sign up. There was once scene where Arthur was at the door talking to a man and a woman who were dressed up, you already knew they were JWs. Arthur says "OK here's the deal, I will join your religon if you become a representative of the Sparkle Tap Water company."
the society constantly stresses the value and importance of meetings.
did you ever recieve any enlightenment while at the kingdom hall?.
.
1. Read God's Word the Bible Daily.
2. Associate with fellow believers.
3. Attend Christian meetings as commanded in Heb 10:23-25. And in case you forgot we have 5 meetings.
4. F&DS is the only channel that God uses to dispense spiritual food.
5. If it is close to the time of the District Convention: Remeber to wear lapel badges at all times and invite the waitstaff at the restaurant to come to the convention as highlighted every year in the demonstration. Always tip(Brother brings a $10 bill and the 10 commandments and doesen't break either one), don't reserve more rooms than needed, the free breakfast served by the hotel is not meant to be your lunch, blah, blah .....
In other words SOS each week.
