the straw came when i stuck with the same congregation for 10 years,,,,,,getting really involved in service......... i got to see exactly how corrupt the P.O. was, (a pioneer elder) ....... and i mean corrupt.......... and all the other elders were afraid of him, and did his will during committe meetings........... he even had the C.O. and the D.O. to shut everyone up, no matter what he was accused of........ i saw him do all the things that people like swaggart and baker do....... and he was always promoted higher and higher.................... i was always reminded to wait on jehovah, and keep my mouth shut, or i would be reproved.......... i finally realized the gov body was just like him.

Straw that broke the Camels Back
by Perfection Seeker inso, whats the straw that broke the camels back in your life?
what was the final last straw that made you say thats it- no more?
i have so many-for 15 years i kept getting that last straw-and trying to ignore it- but i think the last straw was when my dad died- everyone kept (keeps) giving me the line of bs about never seeing him again unless i go to meetings.

My Story
by Mackin ini guess it's time for me to tell my story on this forum.
my parents came into contact with the "truth" during their engagement and so i was born into a borg family and quickly "assimilated.
" the congregation i grew up in however had very liberal views on many subjects, such as higher education, secular careers, and the like.

i am sitting here infront of the computer having a cold beer and just enjoying life.shouldnt i be crying and having a depression sitting here in tears over missing all my jw friends that now are vanished??.

hi whole wheat,................... so far i havent seen the spirit of god operating on and elders in committe meetings.........or on the gov body of jehovah's witnesses............. many times i have seen the opposite spirit operating, as elders slyly work things to their advantage, hurting the flock, as in the case of silencing molested victims........... the same for the entire organization,,,,,,,,,,matt 24:24 talks about false prophets...... there is no spirit from god directing false prophets like the jw organization....... it's the opposite spirit that is directing them.

i would say that the gov body does all that............... also they remove a victims support system, so that the victim is dependant on their abusive system............ many jws become so involved in the abusive circle, that they commit suicide .

hi kjell.....i'm glad you got disfellowshipped!............... did you meet happy man yet?......... he is a jw who firmly believes in the gov body........ he posts here alot, .....he is from sweeden...........he say's the congregations in sweeden don't have problems like the usa.

i agree, going door to door is unnatural...........only,... he say's "the more you learn to love god, and understand that this is the work of god, the more you want to share that".
really though,............ the more door to door work you do, the more calloused you become........ your genuine love for people becomes something you turn on and off, according to if they agree with the gov body's doctrines.......... non members become just names in a return visit book,....... you become accustomed to viewing other humans as "non members"........"dead meat" for armageddon....... "goats" ...............
your genuine love for people turns into a game, .......to get recognition for yourself, to be recognized with a "title" (pioneer) and to be known as one who can talk people into it,...........

Double Standards
by Perfection Seeker indid anyone else have witness parents who the congregation thought were the "model" family, yet behind closed doors all hell broke loose?
i remember a time when my family was choosen to do a part at an assembly about the ideal family- yet behind the scenes, we were beat, yelled at, sworn at, never studied, had a family from hell, yet others always commented how "perfect" and christian our family was.
being a witness leaves deep & permanent scars.
