  It is a scandal that this thread is descibed as a scandal. Ergo it stays here.

  No probs for Wombat. That cyclone was a category 5 - same as Katrina. Poor Innisfail (pop 10,000) copped it bad. Over half of homes badly damaged, roofs flying everywhere. 300 kph (180 mph) winds.

  Australia just lost 90% of it's banana crop and about a half of it's sugar crop. Rainforests have been stripped of leaves, wild-life devastated.

  The bad news is that another cyclone is forming and could come in the same way.

  i was born in 58 so i grew up as a kid in the sixties and was a teen in the 70s which was pretty good.

  Clam...Re living in the Last Days.... Yeah I was congratulated for renting rather than buying a house by someone close to me who has since made millions thru property. D/Ad in 73 and comforted my sobbing wife as she folded her babies winter clothes "for the last time".

  Ask them about it now? Denial is only a river in Egypt.

  i love this site but, for an australian, it's pretty boring until the yanks wake up..not knocking you poms...i just replied to clam who always keeps things going.. so by the time that our american friends get out of bed i am out of it and miss out on the fun.. because i have nothing intelligent to say, i will make the following pointless comments..   Clam...Yeah Easy Beats....Stevie Wright...."Friday on my Mind". They were big in the UK too.

  They were an Australian band but they were all born overseas. They met in an immigration camp and became Australian pop icons. The majority of Australian have grand-parents who were born overseas. It makes this place really interesting.

  Luna 2...You're right..I'll finish this beer and hit the cot.

  I read/heard recently that we are all like the moon. We all have a dark side that no-one sees.

  Is that why you call yourself Luna?

  And whatever happened to the first Luna? Very sinister I think.

  Brooke....Until someone more interesting comes on line....How do you think that Luna 2 disposed of Luna 1 and why? Are we talking schizo or alien replacement?

  Brooke....nice replies....

  Regarding US/Australian relationships. Your President and our Prime Minister have such a close relationship that even their wives are getting suss. We go wherever the US goes.

  But deep down, we have a deep suspicion of the USA..I shall try to explain.

  World War 2 began in 1939 but the USA never heard about it until 1941. And then Australia was flooded with American servicemen. Glamorous blokes in fancy ironed uniforms with nylon stockings and chewing gum galore to give away. They had accents the same as the movie stars.

  Our local sheilas (girls) went head over heels for them. The locals were no competition. And we thought that Japan was the enemy.

  Bloody Yanks....Over paid, over sexed and over here. That was the big complaint.

  Believe me, every one here over 80 still harbours a grudge.

  What are JW views on freemasons

  i don't know too much about freemasons but i have a friend who belongs to them and says that they are religious people of different denominations and the do good.

  i don't see exactly what it is that they do....but i get the distinct feeling that it's not right.

  could someone enlighten me.
