JW's having kids
by Tigerman inthis is a simply question that came to me as i sit here reading all the various topics and their responses and i my mind often takes me back to a question that came to me some time ago.
simply put; why have jw's continued to have children .
.since the beginning - 1912,1918,1925 and so on if the end was coming in their lifetime .

Excellent question.
First to clarify: the Society does not make negative statements about having children--they are very neutral about this. This has changed since the 1975 age when child bearing was discouraged.
Also, most JW couples I know are fully aware of what "make a baby". But with recent changes about vascetomies (Society discourages, no "priviledges" if man has operation), JWs are forced to use condoms or birth control. Since either method has its drawbacks, "accidents" are common. More commonly, children are conceived on purpose. I see this all the time, especially if there is already a first child.
My opinion is the Society is neutral on children because it is a primary territory for them. Baptisms in my area are consistently 90% JW kids between 14-18 years old.
The mind set of the average JW is hard for me to reconcile: impending Armageddon (with the implication of persecution and family seperation) versus the natural desire to have a family. Also factor in that most JW youth do not stay in the religion past their 20's--as a parent you are almost certain to experience the DFing or fade of your child.

Undercover: The Dateline child abuse and Silent Lambs exposure is not meant to be diminshed by this Memorial Campaign.
However, nothing quite like this has been done before. Grass roots, thousands of sources from around the world making small statements--an anonymous cry that will not be ignored.

Never before has a coordinated campaign against the Watchtower Society garnered more attention or exposure.
Information on a previous campaign has the Society scrambling, more news to be released soon. This is working! Cheques and bills are showing up in Kingdom Halls and Assembly Halls and many more have been received at Bethel headquarters. Communications between elders, circuit overseers, district overseers and the Service Department are hot about this. I wish I could tell you more...
Do your part...even if you disagree, post your dissent. Keep this topic hot until the Memorial.

Active Witnesses...... lets get a head count....
by ?me? injust wondering out there, who is still active?
makes most of the meetings, all the conventions, comments, is still active socially with the congregation,out in service, hall building etc.
just wondering, because we know who are the elders, or recently former elders and i usually seek their posts for some interesting comments... .
