he he he....
yeah, I remember the smurf folklore. we still watched them though - most of my family didn't buy into that story.
I am planning my next tattoo and I was thinking of doing a tribute to the jw folklore of the smurfs, and getting a totally demonized, slutty looking smurfette tattoed somewhere in my nether region......HA HA HA!
I need someone to design it for me though......any offers?

' and stormed out, i was probably 9 years old.

My DF'd brother will never go back!
by AuldSoul insome years ago my brother was disfellowshipped.
not for apostasy, but for more mundane reasons.
he has not had the internet, he has not studied the bible much since being disfellowshipped, he has been feeling guilty and considering returning for the last six months.. i had no way of contacting him, having lost touch in the midst of his many moves.

Any Dubs in your Hall that were puportedly "Demonized"?
by Sailor Ripley inwe had a whole family that moved into our congo when i was about 10. they had kids from 6 to 16-years-old.
there was always talk of their beds spinning and shoes floating, et cetera.
they lived in a literal shack so i didn't want to go there to spend the night, but i always wanted to go and "check it out" to see some fireworks.

****You can't forget about the giant wooden fork and spoon (from a yard sale, Jamaica, wherever) story that had me spooked every time I went to a friends house who had them as a kid. ****
LOL! I forgot about those things! everybody did have them......
what is the demon story behind those? I never heard that one.. -

Teaching a Toddler to Reason...
by jgnat ini'm working on my "unbelieving mates" book today.
i'm putting together the best ways to teach a child to reason from infancy to adulthood.
i firmly believe that a child taught to reason can be permanently inoculated against pyramid schemes, con artists, bad dates, fear-mongering, false politicians promises, quackery, and destructive religious extremism.. reasoning ability is closely tied to language development.

sorry.....hit the enter key too many times.
nice points though.
hubby is the story teller with the kids. he has always had this great game of making up adventures with them in stories before bed. usually they are totally off the wall and the kids add there comments so that they can help direct which way they want the adventure to go. our oldest daughter has taken those stories and made her own books by writing the stories down with pics and everything. it's really great.
we try to let our kids explore all kinds of mediums. different classes and art forms, imaginative play and lots of exploring outdoors. I want my girls to have confidence to stand up to the bulls**tters of the world! confidence in myself was what I was lacking and a big part of the reason I bought into the JW world. another game we've started playing and it's opened up worlds to them is called "the thankful game." before bed we take turns naming 3, and only 3 things, we are thankful for that day. it can be big or little things - it's the point of recollecting them and acknowledging them that is important. I enjoy the game as much as them. It has kind of become our form of "prayer" before bed.
can't wait to read your book one day jgnat. -

Oh my schne - good question.
I had the same experience this week. I have a jw friend who is going through some really bad marriage problems and he is toying with the idea that he may not be a witness (he's seeing the hypocrisy) anyhow - my name came up during one of his judicial meetings. his friendship with me is being used against him. The allegations they made about me were totally untrue and hurtful. It just made my anger and hurt flare back up all over again.......
I don't really have an answer to your question. I agree with Auldsoul that as long as our loved ones are in we will flare ups. I seem to get over the flare ups faster and gentler now a days though. I do have hope that one day I will hear things about me and they will just float right over me and not cause a reaction - I look forward to that day.
meditation has helped my level or anger and frustration also. do it a little bit everyday and just concentrate of a mantra of "calm" or "still" or "gratitude" and BREATHE!
works for me. -

NEW INK!!!
by RichieRich inso, i went to my friendly neighborhood tattoo parlor today, and recieved my second and third (or 19th and 20th - depending on how you look at it) tattoo.
the chest is an extremely sensitive area, and so i was very aware that i was alive for the majority of the time.. oh, birds are often seen as a symbol of freedom, happiness, and arriving safely.
bones show regret, loss.. .
