Of Late Many Here Seem To Be Preaching Aethiesm..
by Qcmbr inwhen i first came here a while back there was plenty of discussion around and about jw topics and general chit chat but of late i've felt quite a sharp increase in posts that are: .
1/ preaching aethism (as opposed to putting it forward in a respectful way as an alternate viewpoint.
2/ vitriolic attacks on those who dare have another view ('damn those stupid heretical believers') .

607, Jerusalem completely subjected or destroyed? Which is it? New light?
by JoeGeneration inaccording to the authorized site of the office of public information of jehovah's witnesses www.jw-media.org, beginning in 607 b.c.e., jerusalem was completely subjected to the rule of gentile world powers.
does this indicate that wts is getting away from insisting that jerusalem .
was destroyed in 607, as we know it was not, but rather that it came under the thumb of babylon and marked an end to true rule of a king in the line of david?

More On The 'Historical-Grammatical' Method
by Nate Merit inalthough protestants, evangelicals and fundamentalists use and defend the historical-grammatical method of bible interpretation, they need to realize it has a fundamental (pun intended) flaw.

CT Russell - No Need to study Bible languages to know the Bible
by VM44 incharles russell wrote in the sep 15, 1914 issue of the watchtower (pages 286-7):
as respects my education in greek and hebrew: not only do i not claim very special knowledge of either language, but i claim that not one minister in a thousand is either a hebrew or a greek scholar.
to be able to spell out a few greek words is of no earthly value.

Herbert Armstrong/WWCOG ??
by Junction-Guy intonight while at a restaurant discussing jw topics my mom told me that herbert armstrong was on the wt society board of directors years ago and that he ended up leaving over doctrinal issues, and was subsequently branded an apostate by the wt society, and after this he founded the worldwide church of god.
can anybody else verify this?
it does seem believable since a majority of the wwcog doctrines mirror those of the wt society.
