when my youngest sister was still going she was on a cocktail of antidepressants, my older sister who still goes is on antidepressants too, I remember my mum, being and still being on antidepressants.
My younger sister is now married to a lad in rock group, and has a great life, shes now on Chivas Regal medication!!! Way to go lil' sis!
The sad thing is, they never face upto the real reasons why theyre depressed, which we all know what they are, its like a band aid solution, very sad. I didn't know of any dub sister who didnt have some damgage. My friend Hannah, she was in and out of institutions because of her experiences with abuse at the hands of an elder, i wanted to kill that SOB!

Street work
by pratt1 in.
maybe this only happens in urban neighborhoods but when i was growing up, many dubs engaged in street work, basically offering the magazines to people on the street as they walked to a destination.. usually it was an area with a lot of foot traffic at a time when many people would travel the area.. did you or people in your congo engage in this and were there any funny stories relating to this practice?

ah yes, the street work, best ever excuse to get out of the field work! We used to go into Liverpool town centre at about 5 o'clock in the morning, i'd be straight into McDonalds for a cuppa, leave a few mags on the seat and turn in, ooh say 3 hours start to finish time, (morning papers read? check!) i viewed the magazines as an "active propagation tool" just becuase theyre not in your hand, they will work for someone if they read them.
As we were from out of town, the local brothers used to get well pissed off at us stepping on their turf, there was a incident I vaguely recall of my mates brother, the super-witness, almost scary in his zeal, having a major dummy spit with some brother from a local cong, when on their turf, i think harsh words were spoken!
What was i thinking, 5 o'clock??? I'll never get those precious hours back! -

by PoppyR inhi everyone, totally new here.
and still associating with jws... have been baptised 23 years, that was at the tender age of 13 when i had absolutely no idea what i was doing.
i have always been considered a rebel...brought up in a family by a single parent, my two brothers are both elders, the younger being a regular pioneer, my sister a regular pioneer and serving in a foreign language congregation.

welcome to your new life, and girlfriend its hard and monumental at first but trust me, it gets better, but you have to create a whole new world for yourself and you have our support here I am sure of that. Every journey begins with that first step, and however long that journey is each step is closer to the final destination than the last.
Chin up mate, and remember we have all been there, and are there with you when you need it, no judgements, no brainwashing, just a hand on your shoulder keeping you true.

its only fair i say, i've had an awful time trying to stay in this country to be with my missus, have been deported once already! And only a month or two ago, some jumped up pen pusher decided without warning, to cancel my visa because they hadn;t received, through no fault of mine some paperwork from an other office. I'm still here! thanks in part to my blasting immigration with the law of the land and getting the press involved. needless to say the snotty little bitch lost her job, and i keep my visa. plus the money i have outlayed just to stay in this colony is atrocious!

So NO Russians ever walked on the moon? None?
by AlmostAtheist inhey guys,.
i was reading popular science and i staggered across a line that suggested that russia had never landed men on the moon.
that struck me as blatantly false, i knew i'd seen footage of cosmonauts on the moon.

I first doubted it as a kid, obsessed with space and sci fi, i watched the movie Capricorn-1, where a mission to mars was faked but on the return of the capsule it blew up, so they had to kill the astronauts, but they got away. Shattered my illusion we went to the moon! I mean theres some big telescopes on earth, just point it to Tranquility Base, and voila, instant proof. Regardless of the CT's saying that the pictures would be doctored, do them all at different sites around the earth, and by different teams. Just another example of people beleiving what they think to be true, regardless of the facts. You don't know its a hoax unless you privy to the secret, to you and me its real which would explain why the thousands of people involved in the Moon Landings all swear blind they did it, not to hard to see why eh!

What religions did you seek since leaving? Or not?
by dezpbem ini'm curious how many people on the board have looked into other religions or spirituality groups since they've left the jw.. what have you looked into?
did you join anything else?
read up on any others?

I think i'd rather have hot irons jammed up my rusty sherrif's badge than join another religion. They're all the same, All run by men who think they're in touch with "God"
Im mean faith, come on, faith in what? Faith in a flawed god, that tests us everyday to see if we still love him? Sounds like a mental abuser to me. No better than us mortals.
I worship at the religion of me and Mrs Skinnyboy, thats all we need, faith in each other to treat ourselves and our loved ones with basic human decency and love. -

Now that would be a cool job, being in the Popes secret "Xfiles" team! like that movie with Gabriel Byrne in it, i forget the title. Saw a doco on the Knights Templar on History Channel some weeks ago, very interesting, i love all the old mythical Grail stories
.... the penitent man...
p.s. the Last Crusade with Indiana jones was on last night, always remember how smug the dubs got when that movie was out becuase it mentioned Big J's name. albeit spelt with an I. never did get a satisfactory answer to why it wasn't spelt with an "I" today. -

How is your gene pool?
by horrible life ini feel that i was dealt a bad hand in the gene department.
even before my conception, i was a loser.
my father was an only child, whose parents died in a car wreck, 1 week before i was born.

I've got some bad genes and decided to stop the madness and not reproduce.
here here sister!!
My mums side are all manic depressives due to my grandad being an absolute arseholeo to all his kids and my nan just stood by and done nothing, glad the old barsteward died! My dads side are a ragtag bunch of scoundrels, musicians, and criminals. Great family do's though ahahah!
Average to moderate looks, very creative thinkers yet, dark, very dark sense of humour! Anyone for League of Gentlemen, thats lightweight compared to my familys dark side!
I vowed never to carry on my genes, the worlds got enough people as it is. I'd rather have a Honda NSX.
