But I do have a question for you; why tell us all this? You make it clear that you view all "apostates" as some monolithic group that will very soon get its well-served comeuppance from an angry God, and no one here could ever say that they weren’t warned when that dark day comes. Still, knowing we are all doomed, how does it benefit you to keep telling us all this?

Perhaps I am in the minority on this, but the car sales business doesn't bother me at all. After all, they have to do something with them, and this seems like a prudent way to go.
There is plenty of legitimate issues to fault the WBTS about, but leasing cars for their field people and selling them afterward is hardly a cause for outcry. The jesus-witness page indignantly refers to these as "luxury" cars, as though the COs are traveling about in chauffer-driven Bentleys. These are Buicks for crying out loud. Boring four-door cars that they lease, use, and then sell. Just like hundreds of other companies do.
Getting on the Society's case about such insignificant (and easily justified) activities simply serves to detract from their many serious wrongdoings.

by Candle ineaster, what's the real truth: previously, and as found in most encyclopedias, most scholars took the view of "the venerable bede" who in 8th century england speculated that the name easter may have come from the name for the anglo-saxon goddess eastre.
but closer research shows several other possibilities.
one is that the name more likely came from the latin for "white week" that spring week when people wore white to be baptized as christians.

JW's Offer Me A Plea Bargain.
by Englishman ini havent mentioned this before because, when it happened i was quite rattled.. there was a knock at the door a little while back, and who should be stood there but john dayment, the fella who used to be my dads assistant when he was po of weston super mare, back in the 60s.. he had with him another chappy, i think that his name was rod something, and they both launched into how good it would be to see me make my way back.
apparently they were both elders, and this was my once a year visit.
i was disinclined to be rude because my mum is still in contact with john hey, for all i know he might be my step-father one day!

I have never gotten a call or a visit. They know where I live, and could find me if they want. I wonder how much of my online activity gets back to the locals? I always post under my real name, so they would have no trouble knowing who I am if they were at all interested.
The plea bargain issue reminds me of a time during my teens that I was called before the Elder's Grand Jury and asked about this "sinful" incident in which some friends and I drank a few beers (the shock!). They offered me a lighter sentence for fingering the other guys. Oh, to have been the man I am now back then. It was incidents like this that most influenced my path over the years.
Just yesterday, I was at the local Home Depot and saw one of the old-time elders buying some paint. I don't think he saw me or recognized me if he did. What struck me most was the fact that I lived so much of my life in fear of this frail old man. Don't get me wrong, I have no axe to grind against him - he remains a very good and kindhearted man. But he is just that - an aging, naïve and childless man whose life is now going into its twilight with none of the plans he had made coming to fruition. It was sad to see him looking as old as he is. My memories of him were of a much younger man, and I am sure that dealing with being this age is nothing he ever planned for.

People's behavior online is far different than it would be in a face-to-face setting. This is especially true when those involved are not even known to each other by name. I seriously doubt that even the most flame-prone poster would behave in any such manner in a real-life situation.
