If all ''faders'' abruptly left the Watchtower and made no effort to hide the reasons why, what affect, if any, do you think it would make on the congregations?
by ThomasCovenant inwhen you're part of a lovely big group of people who all seem to be happy in their beliefs, it's easier to quell your own doubts.
if i was the only person left in the congregation who still went on the door to door work, because every body else had stopped going , having said out loud what most think, ''it's a waste of time'', how long do you think before i too would cease going door to door?.
i know from my own perspective that having lots of fellow witnesses around me, steered me into making life changing decisions.

I know from my own perspective that having lots of fellow Witnesses around me, steered me into making life changing decisions. I was influenced by those around me and the constant indoctrination from the platform.
I looked up to certain 'educated' 'intelligent' Witnesses as a teenager and thought, if they believe it, it must be right.
I'm just a spotty youth.
If those Witnesses had upped and left, and explained their reasons I may, (stress may) have felt differently.
I feel that there are probably many still attending who don't believe it.
If they all suddenly stopped going would it have any affect on the remaining doubters to also leave?

Watching the World ***What was the air like 4,600 years ago? That is what scientists are hoping to discover when they penetrate an underground chamber on the southwest side of the Great Pyramid of Giza.
Ask them to explain how the Great Pyramid and Egyptian civilization survived the flood of only 4383 years ago.

BBC News website article mentions JW's failed dates of doom.
by ThomasCovenant inhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-magazine-monitor-24432491.
it's a line which has proved too tempting for second-guessing believers ever since.
jehovah's witnesses have been accused of having made predictions for 1878, 1881, 1914, 1918, 1925, and 1975 as dates for judgement day.

Jehovah's Witnesses have been accused of having made predictions for 1878, 1881, 1914, 1918, 1925, and 1975 as dates for Judgement Day. The US radio evangelist Harold Camping built up a ministry worth millions of dollars predicting that 21 May 2011 would be the big one. Camping later admitted he was probably mistaken, and donations to his ministry suffered an apocalyptic fall themselves

Another Lie - Watchtower December 2013
by Listener ini just thought i would have another look at the december 2013 watchtower in light of the agm tommorrow.
slimboyfat had pointed out that even though there is a whole study article on the memorial, there is not one mention of the 144,000 (by number) and it may become new light that the number is no longer literal.. anway i came across this bold outright lie.
page 22 para 4.

If they change the literal number 144,000 I will not be happy.
When I first started studying at about the age of 13 with the son of an elder I argued that the number couldn't be literal when all the component parts of the context scripture means it has to be figurative. I was told 'that is the belief'.
It will anger me that they will (if they do) change it not because of spiritual enlightenment but because of the mathematics of the increasing number of partakers. Just like the generation change.
I don't want them to change it. I want them to carry on looking more ridiculous. Unless, of course, it results in more leaving like the generation change.

I guess I was ashamed of the JW religion...
by Jim_TX inwhen i was a kiddo growing up, i wasn't one of those that we all heard at assemblies giving their experiences... "here, let me show you the answer from the bible..." <reaching into their a** bringing out a bible>.
no, i would sit there in the audience, and think... that person has balls to do that.. when i went to grade school, i tried to keep as low of a profile as possible.
it was bad enough that i had to start the day by not saying the pledge of allegience like all the other school kids.

I would guess that you have summed up the feelings of the majority of children of Witnesses, including myself. Thanks.
I hate all religions and those who follow them.

Adjustments In Understanding--2013/7/15/Watchtower!
by Atlantis inthis file is being passed around by jehovah's witnesses concerning adjustments in understanding the 2013/7/15/watchtower.
the first draft they prepared had a typing error, and nevada sent the draft back to the jws for correction.
they corrected the typing error and sent it back to nevada.

How do believers defend a god who is going to murder billions and pin it on them?
by tootired2care inat that time those slain by the lord will be everywherefrom one end of the earth to the other.
they will not be mourned or gathered up or buried, but will be like dung lying on the ground.

Tammy,
Can you not see how it may be easy for me to despise someone who would worship a god that allowed/caused a she bear to kill children?
If, that is, they chose to believe those particular few sentences in a book known today as the Bible.
