We had 2 lifes--one at the KH, and one at home.
I think we all did.
i can recall from a very early age, that before just about every meeting, our family would be on edge while getting ready.
often some of the very worst of our personalities would show themselves.
we would argue and sometimes be downright verbally abusive with each other.

i remember hearing of a failthful older brother who was attacked by vicious dogs while in service.
even though his clothes were shredded and he was bleeding he continued walking door to door to finish his assigned territory for that day.
No, that's the Mormons.
jehovah's witnesses .
if you are one of jehovah's witnesses your mind is being controlled by someone else without your knowledge.
mind control - what is it?.
BINGO! The year and a half I've spent on these boards has shown me that this statement is very important to consider. As dubs, our minds were trained to think a certain way. Without deep deprogramming, the basic framework stays the same and is suceptible to the next pushy 'salesmen' or the 'last great idea I heard'.
I have seen this tendency with people after having left a large number of different religions that bind people similarly to the JWs. It gives them the illusion of having freed themselves. And, admittedly, perhaps they are less restricted than they were before, but enslaved nonetheless.
I'll give an example that will quite possibly make some enemies here, but it is a good example anyway. I've known a number of people who, in rebellious fashion, will leave a rather fundamentalist religion for, say, a less restrictive religion (or whatever you want to call it) like... Wicca. Now, Wicca is much, much, much less restrictive than the WTBTS. However, I have known people to hold to certain Wiccan dogma just as vehemently as fundies do to their Christian dogma. They have not broken free of their bonds. They've simply changed masters.
They've changed the color and type of their bonds, but that's about it.
And now I'll apologize for veering slightly off-topic.

If you actually say this, it sounds like your conjuring up DEMONS!!!
Heh heh... did you know that there was a branch of early Christians called Gnostics who really did believe that Jehovah was an evil entity to have trapped our spiritual entities into material flesh, effectively enslaving all of us? They believed that there was a god that reigned above Jehovah and that Jehovah was a creation that mistook itself for God. This sect was battled by the early Christian Church and guess who won?
So, from the Gnostic standpoint, conjuring up a demon would not be far-fetched.
i've heard so many people (jw and non) tell me that i need to maintain my spirutuality because it's healthy.
it seems i don't have any since i no longer believe in god or the bible.
so, what the hell do i need spirituality for?
A religious or spiritual belief structure is seen by some as psychologically healthy because it often provides hope that existence has meaning of some sort.

We are all drop dead gorgeous aren't we?
From what I can tell... uh-huh!!

On the nose, my friend. There is a reason that the Being is likened to the Lotus blossom.
I've seen too often that a person will simply replace one slave dogma for yet another.
just curious, since they control how we dress, how we're suppose to fuck, how we act.
My first reaction was to say "well, when I get to hell, I'll let you know if they allow one to shave."
I never considered the issue when I was a Witness. However, if I were still, I would probably think it a bit too sexy for a Witness to be doing.

I remember that one, tetrapod.sapien. There were also the stories where a Witness was about to be attacked in some way and just kept repeating Jehovah over and over and the would-be attacker got freaked out and left.
My younger sister will admit that she still says "JehovahJehovahJehovahJehovahJehovahJehovah" over and over if she ever gets scared.
what strikes me on this board is the number of adult converts that have left the borg, either fading out or getting df'd.
from my experience (i was born into it, 2nd generation, left before getting baptized) most of the faders or escapees were also like.
me, born into it, never really accepted it and just bowed out at the first opportunity.
Almost born in, only had one birthday. I was forced out because I found I like sex and wasn't married. I still believed though and even had a few bible studies a couple years after leaving.
I began studying other religions and other subjects that actually challenge you to think for yourself. Since I came to not really care at all about anything related to the WTBTS, I only heard vague rumors about recent changes to policy. I still didn't think of JWs as a cult. But as I found that so much has changed, just in the last 14 years, with regards to their stance on things (and yet other things haven't), I consider the WTBTS a corrupt organization and the Witnesses horribly misled.
