I agree that people should most certainly have the right to make up their own minds....but they also have the right to see BOTH
sides of the issue, and that is obligation and duty of a documentary film-maker. This is blatantly one-sided in favour of the WTS.
there is compelling, published evidence (see link below) to suggest higher rates of mental illness among jws compared to other religious sects, and the general population.
what is your opinion, is this because people with "susceptibility" to mental illness are more likely to be attracted to the lifestyle and psychology of the wts, or after joining and being an active member for years, the jw psychology and lifestyle are simply enough to push any psychologically healthy individual into psychopathology?

Thats an interesting point, perhaps the WTS serves as a form of 'self-medication' for these people.
i've noticed this in our congregation, that a lot of brothers who start of pioneering in their mid to late teens, stop shortly after they get married.
maybe they think it's a sister thing.. also, a lot of the friends in the hall who have been to pioneer school, are no longer pioneers.
this seems to be more for the younger jw's, than the older, retired jw's who have nothing else to do.. has this been your experience?
GBL hit the nail on the head....its all a 'mating ritual' and a show designed to appeal to DUB mate selection criteria. I know countless guys, who were really borderline dubs, who suddenly became zealots when the urge to boink became overwhelming then promptly returned to a 'fader' lifestyle after the honeymoon....

when i was an active witness it was quite noticeable that when world shattering events took place, such as a disaster, tensions between major nations, war in iraq or events like that of 9/11 the meeting attendance would drastically improve.
this was mainly due to ones whom you rarely saw flocking back because they thought armageddon was coming.
what if this almost impossible scenario occurred.
Even if it ever came to be that they were right all along......I would choose DEATH over an eternity frolicking with lambs and lions in the daisy fields grinning like an idiot with those half-witted numb-skulls....

This is nauseating. It is essentially going to be a sugar-coated fluff piece and recruitment tool for the WTS. Its amazing how there is not a SINGLE mention of any of the recent scandals in the press release for this propaganda film. Uninformed people will watch this nonsense and remain completely oblivious to the child molestation scandals, the UN scandal, etc. I wonder if they will show footage of some JW dying in an emergency room for refusing blood? My bet is there wont be a single negative comment about the borg in the entire film.
Somebody needs to make a REAL documentary about the borg....that would wake people up.

the jws used to always have discussions about whether to have children "in this system of things".. i used to always think it was pathetic to avoid having kids because of the so-called impending armageddon.. however.
despite the fact that i've always wanted kids, right now i'm not so sure.
just look at the things happening in the world.
One other factor pushing me in the "want kids someday class" is the chance to experience all those WONDERFUL PAGAN holidays through the eyes of a child!! All the things I was denied!!

Never really 'felt' like a cult when I was in it, but was always embarassed to tell anybody I was in it because they invariably had the idea that it was a cult. I could only
see it for what it was once I was totally free, but I guess that is part of the definition of a cult..
