Cool, I love hiking. The pictures are great. Sometimes just being around mother nature is very relaxing and peaceful. I think I am going to go to New Mexico in the next year and take some pictures and hike.

Mr. Flipper & Son Hear, See, and Get Footprints of Bigfoot on Pack Trip
by flipper inso, the long awaited trip began for my son and i to return to the same place he heard a bigfoot a year ago in the forests of northern california.
the trip started out unfortunately for us to be a 7 mile hike instead of a 2 to 3 mile hike in to our base camp , as huge snow drifts covered the road , making it even inaccessible for 4 wheel drive, so , with packs on backs we hiked over 50 ft long snow drifts on places on the trail.
even snow was covering one creek near the lake we were destined for .

Photographs of old witness friends and Witness events. Do what with them?
by Thechickennest inmy family just took a stroll down witness lane this month as we searched for photographs that our graduating high school daughter needed for her display at her graduation party.
we have an immense file of photos of a previous life with the jw's.
in a way its a history of a former life.

They are part of your life. I'm sure you still have fond memories of the friendships that you once had. You could keep those together in a specific album. I have a few small albums of the many trips I made to Bethel when my bf was there when I was a teenager. I occasionally still look at them and recall all the good times we had; even though I have moved on with my life without the JW's.
Exactly. I threw out the literature because it is not what I believe, but it's the past. I have made peace with it and so looking at the photos is just a facet of who I once was, I had friends, shared laughs and good times with my family - I don't need to pretend that didn't exist because my ideology and philosophy has changed. Everyone has a past, there are still remnants and pieces of smiles and joy you can recall without feeling guilty.

Do people really change?
by Anti-Christ ini was talking about this with some friends yesterday, i believe that we do not change, we might change the way we see the world around us, we might change our belief, we will learn new things that will make us change our outlook on life but when it comes down to it i think we are who we are.
my friends say that we do change, that we are never the same person year after year, i was the only one who did not agree.
i told them that i have seen people "change" but deep down there were the same person, all they change was their "mask".

"As the same thing in us is living and dead, waking and sleeping, young and old. For these things having changed around are those, and conversely those having changed around are these." - Heraclitus
"All life is flux and nothing stays the same". - Plato
Our personality formation normally occurs early in our development, but who we are, things we experience, situations beyond our control change our perception and our thoughts. This is a process that is always working and reworking. I find it odd, could just be me, that people think we do not change and then give a list of ways that we do indeed change. Everyday, you are engaged in life, you adapt, you modify, you conclude and adjust your mode of operatus based on input. Things we can't control, such as sickness, etc change us.
The degree of change is the issue here. The exact change and where and how is the issue here. We may hold a basic belief or philosophy, and while we may learn things, we may still hold that core belief, but to say we do not change, I believe is quite incorrect. Every person here is a result of a change in thinking. Now you still may like ice cream and prefer vanilla over chocolate because that's your core, but you changed and you change every day that input goes in your mind. The degree of which is up to you. It can negative, postive or neutral and just moving forward.
Human nature is about change, so the answer is yes.

Is the Tower of fear and deception really starting to crumble ?
by Homerovah the Almighty inthere has been some dramatic changes going on recently with the jws as everyone knows , i can only speculate this is due to the once well hidden secrets.
that have been hidden so well from the eyes of the faithful followers, the overwhelming information on the inter-net may be the cause of this.. perhaps the power and arrogance that the gb held for so many years is indeed starting to weaken.. i'm actually seeing the faith weakening within my own family members that have been involved with the organization for decades.. they do seem to be down sizing a lot in their operations, wouldn't it be surprisingly ironic if " the truth " was the thing that really was to bring down their structured lies.. well we can only wish, right !

I think they are totally reinventing themselves. And a lot of old timers are waking up. Someone mentioned a type of witness that is challenging within. I don't think they will ever go away totally, but the JW religion as we know it, will be totally different.

KurtBethel visits Beth Sarim!
by kurtbethel insunday, may 18th was my big day.
i decided to go to beth sarim, home of the princes and ancient worthies.
so i loaded up the truck and rolled out, wondering what do you do when you meet someone so ancient that the roman empire was a mere twinkling in jehovah's eye.

Anyone else having this problem with Witness Friends and Relatives
by Evidently inthey are all over me with all of these "end of this system of things" signs......earthquakes, cyclones, pestilences, cost of food to lead to food shortages, blah, blah, blah....did they make an announcement at the kh that "this is it!!
" they say that we've never had all of these things happening all at once like we've had the past few weeks...... .

Once and a while and I just talk about all the hurricanes, food shortages, pestilence, outbreaks before the 1900's and early 1900's all over the world. It is not new and it has been MUCH WORSE.
I think we should create a fact sheet, so people can refer to on occasion.

Well guess who just knocked on my door....
by Ima Apostate inof course you know the answer... how ironic.
i swear, jehovah's witnesses only come when i'm hanging out in sweatpants and a tank top with no bra on.
if i am wearing a bra, they don't come.

The lines they come up with to get people to open their door is ridiculous. It is bordering a big fat lie.

Congratulations! Marriage is a beautiful thing and the time when he proposes and you plan your wedding is a time to cherish.

Is Your Life THAT Much Better Off Since Leaving The Witnesses?
by minimus inwitnesses love to say how "miserable" the "apostates" are when they .
leave "the truth".. how would you respond to this statement from your own personal experience?
?.

Yes, much better. I used to live in constant fear and guilt when I was a witness. I had to watch what I said, who I talked to, I was concerned about being called into meetings and being grilled, scared of doing something that would stumble someone. I had nightmares of an Armaggedon that would destroy millions of people, a lot of them children and if I might survive because the entire explanation of it made little sense.
I wanted to be friends with whomever I wanted and had to talk to them in secret, I hated the cliques at the kingdom hall because they were self-righteous liars, I would see men elevated and women degraded and as a woman I had a true problem with being told I was "underneath a man" and created to be a man's slave. Suffering, yes I did.
But then I left and discovered this lovely world that I created on my own terms. Went to college, met friends, fell in love, married, traveled and for the first time in my life I felt free. No more nightmares of torment, no more guilt ideology popping in my head, no more of the rheotric, no more fear, and did I mention no more knocking on doors and "sermonizing" people.
I'm so happy I could do a break dance right now. Free at last, free at last, thank good all mighty, I am free at last!!!
