The world has many times when the end would seem imminent then man has come up with a technological breakthrough and the human family has flourished, no more talk of doom and gloom, man has always sorted his own problems out, I know it's not perfect, but let's respect humanity ability to get through things, let's not look to an unknowable and invisible god let's do it ourselves.

Your kidding, right? Look at energy charts juxtaposed with population growth back to around the mid 1800's. Where is this miracle energy coming from? Lets say, for shits and giggles, that man comes up with a new energy - you know, the kind that can be altered to make plastics, fertilizer, food, medicine (sort of like oil)... with easy ENERGY (look at the energy to population charts mentioned earlier) comes MASSIVE population explosions. In Eutopia, we might be able to feed everyone on the planet, given that we could control or modify the weather. However, we all know Eutopia does not exist. Look at Agenda 21. Its a serious topic where some of the most elite would be happy with a global carry capacity of 500 million. Man does not give two shits about his neighbor, its all about $$$$ which equals POWER. People are starving to death all over the world, slash and burn with thousands/millions of acres gone every day, massive bloodshed, dead hypoxic zones growing in the ocean, crop failures (US crop failure is big this year) due to uncontrollable weather, etc.

Does it really matter? The world as we currently know it, maybe has a couple of decades left, and that is being ubber generous. Mathematics, logic, etc. all point to an exponential growth in demand and GROWTH with a diminshed resource base. Nothing is infinite in a finite world. So either, we solve energy problems within the next few years (which by the way will push the population to true exponential growth), or we all live in poverty, or we have a massive die off. There is no Eutopian option. People say we will be colonizing the planets - maybe, but then again just to stay at par with CURRENT growth rates we would have to be launching MILLIONS of people every day to some other "planet" - not happening in our life time...

theoretically they would take out the biggest loan they can afford, not expecting to ever pay it back.. talking about the end of the world... when's the next one due?
In theory (and in tangible), mathematical, logical, sets theory, etc. the planet only has a few more decades before population and demand truely model exponential growth, while resources (food, energy, etc.) take a nose dive - in some aspects we are already there. So yes, life as we currently know it is changing, and not for the better.

my daughter may need this.
since she has heart failure, she may not be able to go back to work, because her dr. has placed her on a 5 lb lifting restriction.
her company has held her job open for her since the end of november, but will not agree this restriction.. she has applied for disability, but since her dr would allow her to work at all (dispite strict restrictions) she has been told that they will not likely approve her.... so she is caught between a rock and a hard place.
Why not go back to her job and just tell management if she needs to lift something heavy to have someone else do it, maybe an assistant?

Knowing good and bad, as in now our creation has gone from "slave" status, doing what we tell them, to free thinkers and knowledge seekers, where they eventually will become "gods". If the account of Babel (gate of the gods) is true as many cultures indicate, then ask yourself where would mankind have been thousands of years ago in technology - if "god" had not confused the languages? It has only been in the last hundred years or so (language barrier broken) that has propelled man into a technological revolution where the sky is no longer the limit...

or at least many tend to gravitate towards religion to have or solidify some sort of future with a supreme being overlooking them hoping to have a reward either in heaven or in the jehovah's witnesses case - living forever in a " paradise earth ".
it seems that people can't just live day to day and let each day come to them with whatever happens.
Without saying a whole lot they are running scenarios, Continuity of Government exercises, and are saying when, not if, the US experiences riots, uncivil rest like Greece, etc. with a collapse in the $$$$ system... welfare, pension, etc.
