It will affect only the very few who still think for themselves. I remember many years ago there was an article in the Watchtower that was talking about how folks in Christendom just blindy followed their leaders and then posed the question "How many would actually appose if a 4th personage was added to the Trinity doctrine?" That question resonated with me at the time because I saw how easily it applied to followers of the Society. All of the Witnesses beleived the angel of the abyss in Revelation was Satan the Devil until the Babylon books of the 1960's came out and stated that it was Jesus Christ. That was a 180 degree change and few Witnesses had any issue with it.

A big shift in the world is about to happen......
by EndofMysteries ini don't want to deceive anyone and i have to clarify a few things so i'm sorry this is going to be a lot more vague then you want.
infact if you do not already realize or also feel something is about to happen as in the title, then move along, it will be a month or 2 before i update this.
it's not my intention to annoy anybody, i am too uncomfortable to post any details because it's too new and i need to verify things, and i am also feeling responsible to give a subtle warning, that it might be something somebody needs to see.

"The scary thing about it....both versions are also in the bible." That is probably true. The bible is written in such a manner that any new outcome or development in the future can molded to fit the circumstances.

2 months of "intensive training". Anybody know what it is?
by donny ini am in dallas for the week and my mom informed me that my 32 year old son, who is an elder in a spanish congregation, told her that he and his wife are going to los angeles for 2 months for some "intensive training" and afterwards they may return to dallas or be reassigned elsewhere.
he said it was not missionary work, but it was something new the society was doing.
any clues as to wht this "new" thing is?

Jwfacts-- More Lies But This Time About The Great Crowd
by Recovery injwfacts has an article that explains why the great crowd must be in heaven.
i am also aware that many of these are the same arguments that stemmed from the 'awakenings at bethel' so my statements are not simply attacks of jwfact's character (since these arguments are probably not original) but rather his copy and paste of what others have said instead of verifying it as 'fact' for himself.. so here are jwfacts arguments:.
1. he shows that russell and rutherford (at some point) believed that the great crowd were in heaven.. 2. each term that describes the great crowd of revelation 7 is else used to described the anointed by the wt.

What I'd like to see explained is how it took from 33 C.E. to the middle of the 20th century select the 144,000. I have seen nothing credible to support that claim.

Does the Watchtower really parallel 1st Century Christianity?
by Emery ini wanted to get a list of arguments that illustrate how the watchtower society is or isn't following 1st century christianity today.
thanks again everyone!.

Recovery said " First century Christians acknowledged the importance of the Divine Name as did Jezus = same with JWs."
Please show me one piece of credible evidence to back that up. Not one fragment of an any early New testatment manuscript has been found to contain the tetragrammaton. None of the early church fathers used it either.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. While I still believe that Marijuana should be decriminalized, I will never, ever feel that way about heroin. There is no such thing as casual use of heroin. He had been using it for well over a year before anyone realized it. Unlike other drugs where you can easily spot someone who is high on them, heroin is different. The first few uses gives one a feeling of euphoria but after just 3 or 4 uses, the body becomes addicted to it and the user needs to shoot up just to feel normal.
That was when it was discovered that he was on the junk. He was having a hard time aquiring some of his fixes and when he was off the drug is when he would act weird and hateful. But when he was on it he seemed like his normal self. When he died, he was just 20 years old. 2 years earlier had won a hardship scholarship to the Univeristy of North Texas and was doing well.
Both his parents were dopeheads (Meth and Cocaine) and by the time he was 8, he and his 4 year old brother came to live with my parents who raised them to adulthood (the younger one is now in the U.S. Navy). Ryan used to rail about his parents and how they let drugs become more important than him and he vowed never to touch the stuff.
What a shock it was then to find out that he became addicted to the worst one of all and it eventually ended his young life. Added to that pain is that two of his good friends who were pallbearers at his funeral are no longer with us today. There is nothing good about heroin and if anyone thinks it should be legalized, they are either ignorant of its danger or delusional.

I have always been amused when the Society compares itself to the activities of the early church. The pic posted earlier of the 2 guys preaching while carring bags of scrolls was hilarious.
You have to remember that the 1st century Christians only had the Old Testament to use. One day at a "gathering" many years ago, I asked some of my fellow JW's to try witnessing only using the "Hebrew Scriptures" and no one was able to make a decent presentation, even though they had the use of it in a convenient book form.
I have no doubt that the early Christians just preached about Jesus because it was something they wanted to believe because they liked the message, not because they could prove him by Scripture.

Watchtower teachings on the length of human existence.
by free @ last inanyone know the current wt teachings on the length of time humans have been in existence?
do they still teach that the first man and woman were created approximately 6,000 years ago?
have they made any comments on archeological findings that show paleo-indians living in the america's 10,000+ years ago?

My wife, who is of Chinese decent, laughs at the 6000 year scenario. She said that Chinese history goes back that far and nowhere mentions Adam and Eve or Noah. She said "Asian people must have decended from Noahs progeny very quickly".

This has been a lousy weekend! In July 2009 my 20 year old nephew, Ryan, died of complications from heroin and his best friend Jeff Neville spoke at the funeral. He gave a very emotional talk and said that he was going to work at getting off the stuff himself. Then on Saturday we received news that Jeff was found dead in a hotel room in San Antonio apparently from a heroin overdose.
