i know most of you are not "true" believers, but i hope you atleast listen to what i have to say, the smurfs are really blue little demons, a sister once had a doll of a smurf and she woke up in the middle of the night and it was humping the cat, once she threw a show at it, it jumped out the window, needless to say the sister and the cat was scared for life.
smurfs may not be the in thing right now but you never know when there going to come back.
so please for the sake of your family and your cat stay away from them.. disclaimer: all events are based on true live events..
Smurfs have needs too!
just thought i would introduce myself, as it seems a bit rude not to.
this, in a nut shell, is my story.. i was a third generation witness and i did all the normal stuff we were expected to do.
left school early, pioneered, went to bethel, ms and all that palava.
Thanks for posting your story Tympan. You left around the same time I did (1992) and I can identify with what you went through. Welcome to the board and don't be a stranger.

i was at a local laundry mat this past sunday and i found an awake from 1995 and a watchtower from 1989. i was amazed at how old these magazines were.
back in my day, the magazines i left behind were rarely over a year old, let alone 20. i have noticed this a lot lately and am wondering where all of these old magazines are coming from.
as i stated on a post a while back, i was in a laundry mat some time ago and i heard a man say "why are you looking forward to 1975?
It sure feels strange to see magazines in laundrymats today that I actually studied back in the day when I was in the org. I did keep one that mentioned that Paul was starting a work that would be completed in our 20th century. So shouldn't the witnesses be kicking back and waiting for good ol' Armageddon?

I realized that he was looking a a mag from the late 1960's. How many years of mags did/do you have piled up in the garage?
i found this to be pretty unsuccessful during my time since i was a jw.
i actually had my interest sparked with the jw's by family members and freinds that were jw's.. were you a statistic of the knock at the door?.
The success is quite low. In my decade as a Witness, I never converted anyone (thankfully) even though I had many studies over the years. After I was baptised in 1983, I called a former workmate of mine who had introduced me to the religion back in 1979 and he told me that I was the first one in his 20 years of planting that actually sprouted.

hello everyone hope there is room for another newbie.. i feel like i know all of you from reading your posts over the last months.. and i must thank you all for your great and very informative posts.
it has really reinforced all the things that i had been feeling for years.
my husband and i were both raised in the "truth".
do they feel intimidated by the fact that ex-jw's know all about the way they function as an organization?
(well except what happens at the "back room" and at gb decision making meetings)..... is it because they can still "catch" worldlies?.
...or is it because ex-jw's could poison those still in "the truth"?.
I think for many of them, it's because they know that we know and understand the scam the organization is. When I was leaving, 4 of the 6 elders in my congregation met with me privately trying to get to reconsider. 2 of them even suggested that I could remain in the organization, but just do not reveal any of my "discoveries" with anyone outside of them. I kept asking them to correct my thinking and explain how these things could have been taught by an organization that claims to have exclusive communiques with the almighty. They had none.
One of the elders who tried to get me to reconsider was Jared Hardie, one of the elder representatives on the documentary "knocking." He is one of the very few that really seemed to live the life of a JW of the many I knew.
refresh my memory.
i know jw's teach that the fds was appointed in the spring of 1919, but where in the scriptures do they "support" this announcment?
i have a jw that wants to speak to me and i need to refresh my understanding.

yes!
according to the world clock there are more females living than males - that means there is a possibility i will not find a male partner..
I know most of the Kingdom Halls I was a memeber of definitley had more women than men. There used to be a joke among JW men in the area I was raised in that when you saw an ugly man with a pretty woman, he was either rich or "strong in the truth."
