The last one I am aware of was 1984. I left in 1992 and Franz dies the following year so there has been no one to do any revision.

When was the last NWT revision released?
by VM44 indoes anyone know when the last revision to the new world translation was released?.
i seriously wonder if there are any qualified bible translators left at brooklyn or patterson.
that is assuming that there ever were any there in the first place.. there might not be anyone qualified in the watchtower organization to make any revisions at all.. the watchtower today wants lawyers, accountants and construction engineers, not people trained in biblical languages!.

How do some stay in despite violating the Society rules over and over?
by donny inwhat i still find strange is how one person can "fornicate" or violate some other major rule of the society and elders swarm on them and almost shove them out the door, yet others can violate the rules endlessly and never seem to receive any consequence.. my oldest daughter (baptized) married a jw back in 2002 and they divorced in 2005. she then went through various boyfriends over the next couple of years and in early 2007 she married a "worldly" guy who was in the u.s. marine corps.
and shortly after the marriage was sent to iraq.
nothing was ever said about this as far as i know, but according to jw teaching when i was part of the "mess", this constitues "fornication".

I would assume that the elders involved with her divorce felt that she had scriptural grounds for remarrying even if it was a non-jw. Otherwise it is adultery to remarry without that basis. Was she reproved privately? So far marrying a non-jw is not a df'ing offense.
Yes, you would assume such, but no, according to her and my youngest daughter, she was never reproved. She left the JW husband because he was "boring". She was the one who "broke the marriage" bonds and as as I am aware, her JW ex-mate has yet to remarry and still attends meetings. My daughter may attend one or two a year.

Nothing was ever said about this as far as I know, but according to JW teaching when I was part of the "mess", this constitues "fornication". Not only that, but her MySpace page was loaded with all kinds of pro-US military pictures and the like.
Sadly, her husband died from being shot in the head and I remember many JW's being at the funeral at a U.S. Military station in Arlington, TX. I saw my ex and former "brothers and sisters" cavorting among the Marines and admiring their uniforms. While I was glad they were putting on this "positive" face for my daughters sake, I found it very strange that they were so fascinated with anything associated with the military.
According to my youngest daughter (who also is baptized and has done many, many things that would/should result in disfellowshipment), no elder has said anything to my oldest other than divorcing a JW and marrying a worldly person is "not trusting in Jehovah."
While I am not complaining that the Society seems to overlook everything my daughters do, I find it odd that they seem to skirt the rules so much and never get called on it.

Letting go, does it really ever happen as an X- JW?
by restrangled ini have been here over 2 years, some of you for many more.
i come and go with postings.
there are so many fighting history with current marriages to jw's, time put in as elders or what ever title you held.. some of us grew up in the worst possible time period,....description is not always possible here.. sometimes i feel we can;'t get beyond it.....we just keep talking about... is that bad or is that ok?.

I think the speed of letting go is greatly affected by whether or not you have relatives still in the organization. My ex-wife and my son are still heavy in to it, but my two daughters have pretty much left it behind.

JEHOVAH vs YHWH
by sacolton injewish encyclopedia - jehovah:.
a mispronunciation (introduced by christian theologians, but almost entirely disregarded by the jews) of the hebrew "yhwh," the (ineffable) name of god (the tetragrammaton or "shem ha-meforash").
this pronunciation is grammatically impossible; it arose through pronouncing the vowels of the "kere" (marginal reading of the masorites: ????

Like LouBelle, this kind of thing does not faze me anymore since I do not think either exists, but I never understood why some ex-JW's made a big deal about the pronunciation being Yahweh instead of the "wrong" Jehovah, then turn abound and use "Jesus" without issue. If one is going to be consistent, they need to replace all of the "J's" of most of the Hebrew names with a "Y". If Jehovah should be Yahweh, then Jesus should be Yeshua.

Hurry Hurry come get your ex- masturbater t shirts here

now i kinda like the ex-slave one myself.
but it's would be for a completely different meaning than what they mean.

What I hate about these so-called moralists like what is found on the link, is that they condemn things like masturbation, yet they talk slang and act cool as close as possible to the ones who are actually "fornicating."

Brothers in her Cong. question if my mum is "really" anionted!? Why?
by Witness 007 ini don't get this...my mum pioneered for 25 years and in the last few years she at 69 is claiming to be anionted and taking emblems.....well you should see the back stabbing!
some claim she isn't since she doesn't work at bethel or contribute to the litrature???
it becomes a big debate, is she or not?

My former brother-in-law (my first wifes brother), decided he was of the annointed a year after he was baptized at 18! Just after his baptism, he began borrowing many of Russell and Rutherfords books from his Kingdom Hall library and said that as a result, Gods holy spirit began guiding his life. After a couple of years, he began trying to correct the elders and even the Circuit Overseers and eventually quit attending meetings. Finally he left and is working with some other "annointed" and will soon reveal Gods new plan and the Society will not be a part of it. Don't say I didn't warn you all.

Last Arpil 24, they announced at my place of employment that they were moving all of the new build manufacturing (we build medical IV pumps) to Costa Rica and all that would remain would be a small repair line and the distribution facilty. This will reduce our headcount from about 425 to approximately 100. So far about 75 have been let go and they expect about 150 more for this year and the remaining ones in 2010. It's really sad to see folks you have worked with for years, some almost at retirement age, say their good-byes and are laid off. The only fortunate thing for me is that I am one of the 100 "annointed" that have been chosen to remain. However, that could change at anytime as nothing is ever set in stone.
