I was lucky for 2 years following M&A. Eight weeks ago my position was finally eliminated.

Not layoffs they cut our overtime. Most on my job live off the OT. Sadly where I work we are short staff so its funny to leave and there is a skeletal 2nd shift that needs bodies.

Last Arpil 24, they announced at my place of employment that they were moving all of the new build manufacturing (we build medical IV pumps) to Costa Rica and all that would remain would be a small repair line and the distribution facilty. This will reduce our headcount from about 425 to approximately 100. So far about 75 have been let go and they expect about 150 more for this year and the remaining ones in 2010. It's really sad to see folks you have worked with for years, some almost at retirement age, say their good-byes and are laid off. The only fortunate thing for me is that I am one of the 100 "annointed" that have been chosen to remain. However, that could change at anytime as nothing is ever set in stone.

Wow, I'm really sorry about all of you that are dealing with layoffs. I know that is really tough. When is is going to end? This seems to have been getting worse and worse for about 6 months with no end in sight.
