Were visits to the library an important part of your childhood?
by compound complex ingreetings, fellow bibliophiles:.
i remember how sad i was, as a little child, when our beloved carnegie library was razed (unsafe, structurally).
the same tragedy occurred when we moved to a new town and that similar architectural treasure was demolished to put up a new and gleaming building of steel and glass.

"Does visits to the kingdom hall library count also?"- I only saw a kh library once and it only had about 3 books in it, if that. That was many years ago. I thought it very odd and didn't know if they hid them because I was going to be there or what. I have no idea why that kh library had no books. Do kh libraries have books today? tough to have their revisionist history with old books lying around.

Me & my kids were regulars at the library! Haven't been in awhile but still go on occasion. Our library has a book sale every year and when the kids were little we would stock up on the discarded books. I still have boxes of them and have real difficulty getting rid of books. I guess it is getting easier with adult books because you can always read on Kindle but there is nothing like a real book and a child in your lap.

Little mindmines in the Oct. 2017
by days of future passed init is difficult for me to say exactly what i mean on this subject.
my sister sent me a link to the oct, 2017 wt simplified article (which has been discussed about the shunning) and i found it disturbing of course, how the wt gives advice, different for each sex, along with the "unbelieving" mate dissing.. wt - although an unbelieving husband may not take the lead in spiritual matters, he should be respected because of his position as the head of the family.
likewise, an unbelieving wife should be shown self-sacrificing love and tender affection by her christian husband.—eph.

Are they studying this now by chance? By my jw's behavior of late I would say yes.

Family Insists on Having Relationship with My Child -_-
by Cimarrona inhi gang, i'm a single mother of an 8 month old baby boy.
i've been df'd for over six years now.
my parents are super dubs and most of my siblings are dubs (on paper - a couple have been inactive my entire life but still claim to believe) with the exception of a brother who was never baptized.

It is not easy being a single mother much less with the added jw crap to go along with it. That being said, your job as a parent is to protect your child. Protection means physically, spiritually, mentally and naturally from sexual abuse which is a problem within the jw cult.
It is not easy to clean the house, do errands, etc... with a child as a single parent (or even a married parent) but millions of parents do it every day. You need to stop relying on your parents/family for anything if you want any leg to stand on at all regarding the jw issue.
Find a way to move out of their place even if you do pay rent they are still in 'parent mode' and you are still depending on them.
If they want a relationship with your child it should be under your strict supervision, never, ever leave a child alone with a jw, any jw, including your parents. They WILL take any opportunity to attempt to brainwash your child further confusing a young mind. Let them know in no uncertain terms that if they want a relationship with the grandchild you are a package deal and where one is welcome so is the other. Furthermore there will be no talk of anything jw related at all.
Please protect your child.
I would suggest you find a group of young mothers to befriend and trade babysitting services, advice and friendship. Try 'Meetup' and find a group you may be interested in or a play group to get to know people.
If you have to move across the country and start over to protect your child, so be it. Start thinking of alternative options.

Blondie posted this about clapping years ago, I don't think they would have anticipated all the digital devices now-
Here is another way the WTS avoids the issue and allows room for speaking out of both sides of their mouth.
*** km 4/72 p. 4 Question Box ***
Is it appropriate for the audience to applaud each part of the ministry school or service meeting?
Audiences composed of Jehovah’s Witnesses are truly appreciative. It is a fine thing that they want to show that appreciation for the efforts of their brothers and the material they present from the platform. In some parts of the world in our day such appreciation may be indicated by applause. But applause should be spontaneous, from the heart. Also, it is usually an expression of appreciation for something out of the ordinary. And so, at large assemblies, including circuit assemblies, when special programs are arranged for and our brothers devote additional time and effort to their assignments, we find the audience applauding not only at the end of the talk but sometimes during it.
But should this be true in our Kingdom Halls? Surely there can be no rule against it if it is done spontaneously and out of heartfelt appreciation. But normally we do not applaud these assignments because, for one thing, it can readily become perfunctory and so lose real meaning.
There is something all of us in our Kingdom Halls can do, however, to show genuine appreciation for the efforts of the one speaking and that is to stay alert during the talk, keeping our eyes on him and showing by the receptive expression on our faces that we are following his thoughts and are benefiting. Also, we often find it possible to talk to the speaker personally after the meeting, letting him know that we enjoyed his presentation.

Talking Janet Jackson and Religious Freedom with the Wife
by OnTheWayOut inmy recent sidewalk discussion with a couple of jw's has gotten me in the mood to say more when appropriate.so the wife and i were riding in the car and cat stevens comes on.
i mentioned to her that cat stevens left music when he was still popular and converted to islam back in the 1970's- how he was told that his music would have to be morally acceptable and he found it easier to just abandon making new music for at least 20 years.
so i didn't really remember all the details and i figured the conversation would die.
