Endure or Enjoy??

have we ever noticed how witnesses are constantly being told that life is something that needs to be "endured", rather that "enjoyed"?.

life is always so tough, so hard, so difficult in "these last days".

"persecution and trials abound".

Thank you for your response dubstepped. I have to disagree though on how other religions see it, many Christian's see it as having abundance (however one defines 'abundance') now, in the living. Abundance can mean love, finances, joy, health, etc...etc...

Some will want to bring up death as not having life abundantly but to a Christian there are worse things than death. Christians who feel that upon their death they will be with their Lord (heaven) they do not fear death and only view their life here on earth as soul having and earthly experience.

Remember Mouthy (Grace)? she couldn't wait to die and go home for quite a number of years before her death.

(and yes, I am in the camp that jw's are not Christians)

How do jw's see John 10:10? (italics mine)

The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

English Standard Version-
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

Berean Study Bible-
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come that they may have life, and have it in all its fullness.

King James-

Let's take this sentence from above, "The Holy Scriptures encourage Christ’s followers to treat unbelievers “with mildness” and “deep respect.”- On one hand jw's should treat 'unbelievers' with respect even though they apparently have rejected jehovah and their doctrines. On the other hand when one was a jw and has become an unbeliever and maybe even has chosen a different church then the person is mentally diseased and one should not even greet them because they too have rejected jehovah and their doctrines.(been df'd)

How can a jw read this crap and not see? it boggles my mind.

Skinned and Thrown About.....

this is a little long, but stick with me.. if you recall, when the building work was in full swing at the new lakefront villa (warwick), wt was having workers come and they would put them up for a year, or more, while they were providing "volunteer services".

with that, and the impending need for hundreds and hundreds of new khs in the usa territory, the congregations were abuzz with the need for "continued construction volunteers".

recently, as many of you know, wt headquarters has sent pretty much everyone home, and is no longer needing workers at the new warwick site, as the building is mostly complete, with the dedication coming up later this year.

So sad how the wt treats it's people. My jw would never believe any of these stories, that's a sad fact as well.

I think it would be great if she did a series on cults! Start with jw's and have ex members, etc... then do more cults. She has a platform in place and it could help bring down the wt.

I could compare my jw going out in fs and knocking on doors with other women as dating too. Have they considered how this looks to non jw's? When a jw pair knocks on a door people assume they are married. I have had this conversation with non jw's numerous times and they never knew that the couple knocking on their door were may not have actually been a 'couple'. Yet the wt has no problem projecting this image. Saying "this is my friend..." just makes them look weirder, next question I get is why do they introduce their wife as 'their friend'?

What Is “Dating”?

▪ You regularly go out with a certain member of the opposite sex.

Are you dating? □ Yes □ No --- Yes, I regularly go in fs with other women who are not my wife. We even stop for a bite to eat or coffee.

▪ Several times a day, you text-message or talk on the phone with one particular friend of the opposite sex.

Are you dating? □ Yes □ No-----Yes, the elders wife or other women in the cong regularly text me about complete nonsense.

▪ You and a member of the opposite sex have a secret friendship. Your parents (wife) don’t know. You haven’t told them because you know they’ll disapprove.

Are you dating? □ Yes □ No---Yes, my wife wholeheartedly disapproves of me going out with other women for hours every weekend year after year.

▪ Every time you get together with your friends, you pair off with the same person of the opposite sex.

Are you dating? □ Yes □ No---Not sure how the whole car group thing works but hey, all congs are small so it is quite likely I will be put with my favorites on a semi regular basis.

On another rant- No dating at such a young age but committing yourself to an org at a young age is ok? (baptism)

For those that read the bible, does the true message of scripture still come through in NWT?

my active and in jw wife is up for reading bible together.

thing is she wants to use nwt.. i have problems with that translation as you my imagine.. just wondering if you thought the true message of the bible will shine through the deliberate tampering of the nwt?.

i know many people here don't like or want to read the bible and think it's rubbish anyway, so if that's you, you can save your comments :-).

Use any bible but the NWT, as a jw I think she is supposed to be alright with that and the fact that you are 'the man'.
