I done a bad thing...
by Elsewhere inafter reading the sept 1 2005 article about the mennonites in which the watchtower society condemns the mennonite church for shunning former members, i could not resist the temptation to send a letter to my parents about it.. after my letter i included a copy of the article with key areas highlighted.. [parents' names],.
someone pointed out a very interesting article in the sept. 1, 2005 watchtower mennonites -- search for bible truth.
in this article the mennonite church is condemned by the watchtower society for shunning members who studied the bible and came to conclusions that are different from what are taught by the church.

Does Disfellowshipping "Incite Hatred", Which Is Against The Law?
by minimus inyour opinion, please......the publications emphatically state that not only are we supposed to hate the wickedness of a sin---but actually hate the person!!!
does this not violate the law??
?

I would have to say No but I am not DF'd. I just quit going. My brother acts like he hates me and I have seen that type of reaction many times. But the old law incited Hate towards the nations so once again a person with a reasonable mind can see the stupidity that the Law was founded on and see the stupidity of the Witness stand.

Mr. P.O will it blow or not?
by skyman inhow fanatic was your po i bet not as fanatic as mine.
one night there was a fire in a petrolium storage facility one block from the kingdom hall the police had baricades up and vacated the area around the hall.
the po called and told all us that jehovah would not let the place blow up while meeting was going on so meeting was still going to be held and he asked all of us brothers to call and inform the congregation that jehovah will protect us and to tell the congregation about an article of a hurricane that destroyed a town but jumped over the kingdom hall.

I get emails from a few CO's that still think I am going to the Meetings and so get informed about inside thinking and after the Tsunami they reported that the faithful brother and sister that went to the meeting that morning Jehovah saved them. Later it was found out that no JW's whether they went to the meeting or not were killed. Why because only a small, small number actually live in that area of the world. One stiter had a non beliveing mate that died I was told.

DF'ing: Why shun child, but not spouse?
by AlmostAtheist inthe bible has precious little to say about shunning.
write a scripture on each finger and you'll still have one clean hand.. but the watchtower has managed to read into it a myriad (are non-jw's allowed to say "myriad"?
) of rules about who to shun, how much, under what circumstances, etc.. one that caught me sideways a day or so ago was the fact that a wife with a df'd husband doesn't have to shun him.
