If this had been the application back when I went to Bethel, not to sure if I would had made it, evil music and the occasional R-rated movie. Not to mention quite a few guys I worked with would not have been there.
I have no idea if the military has an "application" per se, but if they do, would be interesting to see what their questions are (especially emotional/psychology questions). Both are institutional driven life-styles.
hi everyone...this year i had to go to the district convention and with my newly opened mind...i sat there rolling my eyes the whole time...i was however very distrubed by a talk on higher education...im sure you all know of it...basically telling all of us outright that it was no good and we shouldnt be going...now i know they have done it in the past...but it seemed so blatant this year in your face...college is evil.....here's a related link .

When I was at Bethel, latter 70's, I worked with a number of guys who had college degrees. Three that come to mind, one taught grade school, other was an architect, and one guy, had his BS in mathmatics, which he had at the age of 18 (yeah, genius level). All three of these guys worked in my dept. All three got transfered to really good jobs (I mean really good jobs) at Bethel due to their college degrees.
An observation that was not lost on anyone on the floor I worked on. And a reason why a good number of guys who I knew that left, headed straight for college after Bethel, including myself. I am so glad I did.
i often times wonder what happened to certain bethelites that i ran around with during my 1990s tenure there.
while there are still a few left there, the greater majority of them aren't there for various reasons (marriage, disillusionment, left the borg, etc).
a couple of cats i wonder about - there was one brother who i believe was from kansas, who got his fingers cut off in a printing press.

I was at Bethel from 74-80. Worked in the bindary. If I stared at the computer long enough, could probably think of dozens upon dozens of names that would be a good fit for this question. While there, knew enough who left for just about every reason imaginable.

in the majority of pictures, the married couples are only of the same race and none of them are mixed.
i noticed that in other pictures of the so-called paradise, its segerated amongst races too.
When I was at Bethel during last half of 70's races for the most part roomed with same race. I lived in a number of 4-man dorms for awhile and some were hispanic, some black. Got along great. Used to joke/kid in a humorus way along race lines but not ever in a demeaning way.
There was a mixed marriage while I was there. That was quite a change at that point in time. Managements issue was that tours came in all over from the US/World and some views dont necessarily change even after some become JW's. I roomed/worked with guys from Alabama/Georgia (country boys first and always) and some of the stories they told from their congregations about whites/blacks was quite surprising.
please take a moment and pause to remember those many troops that paid the ultimate sacrifice of the beaches of normandy 63 years ago today.
never forget what they were fighting against, and how their sacrifice saved the world from hitler and the nazis.

anyone old enough to have been in bethel during the 60s and early 70s?
in my family i have an uncle that was there then, we were always told he was higher up, but that could have been that he was a supervisor or almost anything, who knows.
at any rate, when i was younger he went "apostate," and left bethel and the witnesses in some splashy manner.
Gymbob, did you know either Tim Sparck or Bruce Dozier, both from Corpus Christi, Texas, who were there during your time? After they returned home, they were in congregations I attended. When I was young, they were viewed by many in the congregation as just a step lower than angels because they had "served at Bethel". I was there last half of 70's. The name Bruce Dozier is familiar. You happen to recall where he worked?
