Already Gone---- The Eagles
"Often times it happens that we live our lives in chains, and never even know we have the key" Glen Fry
as some of you may know, i am a recently self-deconverted jw.
the experience of deconversion was at times emotional.
i have compiled a list of songs i would listen to on those emotionally turbulent occasions.

"But there is always that one person lurking "
So true. I wasn't going to say it when I first posted here but others have, which reaffirms we react in a lot of the same ways, that when I first came here it was several years ago but I didn't linger; I guess at that time some of the topics I saw didn't interest me enough to stay but later I got to reading more and more and finding out more and more about the organization that I didn't know before and noticed that there were a lot of people with similar background and it helped me deal with a lot of stuff that I put in the back of my mind while I was just living day to day after leaving.
what strikes me on this board is the number of adult converts that have left the borg, either fading out or getting df'd.
from my experience (i was born into it, 2nd generation, left before getting baptized) most of the faders or escapees were also like.
me, born into it, never really accepted it and just bowed out at the first opportunity.
My grandfather, who died in the early 50s as well as some of his bros and sisters, and aunts and uncles, etc were JWs but my mother never was baptised but went off and on during her life so I really wasn't raised in the truth and only came into it when I was a teen.
do you see jws at the local grocery store, walmarts, or on a night on the town?
how does the interaction go?
?
Last time I was in my hometown visiting some family I ran into an elder or he spotted me and called out my name as I was leaving a department store. He said that it had been a long time since he had seen me and where have I been, etc. I told him I moved and only come to visit friends and family once in a while when I can get away; and then he told me that tomorrow (which was Sunday) bro so and so from such and such cong was giving a talk tomorrow and I need to come out and see "the friends", that they miss me, etc. This was the elder who "brought me into the truth" 20 years ago. I just played long and was friendly and said bye, good seeing ya, etc. and left. It has been about 7 or 8 years since I had been to a meeting that I can remember.

Young People Ask "Does the WTS award scholarships to longtime Bethelites to study law?"
I went a couple of times. Actually would go there and visit a friend who was a bethelite and stay with some other nearby friends. First time I went I saw pretty much everything and after that I didn't tour everything again. Saw pretty much everything. The educational center in Patterson was being worked on at that time.

i was just wondering where the wts gets the idea of the 'other sheep' who survive the 'great tribulation' becoming cleansed.. i know revelations speaks specifically of the 144,000 "washing themsleves in the blood of the lamb", thereby becomming cleansed, or perfect.. the wts teaches that the 'other sheep' become cleansed gradually over the 1,000 year reign, but wouldn't they themselves need to be washed clean (obviously symbolic) in jesus' blood somehow?.
kwin
I think they must be getting ready to market a new kind of spiritual Sheep Dip.
