  Tower of Babel is a Star Gate

  according to genesis 11:4, people constructed the tower of babel, it was a ziggurat.

  ziggurats, which means to be elevated, were built on top of mountains.

  now there was a scripture that tells of a ladder appearing from the sky and an angel of the lord came down this ladder to speak with jacob and then went back up it to the heavens.

  I am still waiting to find what is truly hidden beneath the Sphinx in Egypt

  I did hear about this room located between it's frontpaws 10 metres below the surface. Appearantly the Egyptian government won't allow it to be opened. They've only known about this room since the late 20th century when they found it using echoscopy.

  Stargates? I think this would be rather farfetched, but you know truth is sometimes stranger than fiction so if you'd come up with something even more farfetched i just might believe you

  Patriotism And All That..

  i've noticed that ex dubbies tend to become quite patriotic once they've left the witnesses.

  actually, scrub the patriotic, i mean very patriotic!.

  it's odd really..we don't give much credence to king or country whilst we're in the dubby brigade, yet once we're out, we seem to become a bunch of flag waving scallywags with the best of them.. i wonder if we're using patriotism as a replacement for the loss of a controlling influence that we feel when we leave the witnesses?

  Englishman, maybe your observation is most applicable to American xdubbies, as their european counterparts seem to resort to America bashing as their new religion. Anyway, I think patriotism can easily lead to nationalism which can be very dangerous. Also hurting people's patriotic feelings can cause them float towards nationalism. One has always keep this in mind when discussing international politics.

  Polarization led by emotions usually leads to less understanding of opposing opinions and less willingness to try and understand those other opinions. Anyway, I've seen emotions block the way to rational discussion in the politics section and it has resulted, more than once, in unneccesary name-calling on both sides. I usually try to stay out of discussions going that direction, but I do like to express my opinions on international and American politics

  Narkissos, I really like your reasoning concerning the realm of ideas. Is the concept of "metareality" applicable here?

  Anyway, I never really believed in an afterlife and I consider myself a agnos-atheist as well.

  I do however, have serious doubts about not living again. I mean, it has gone "wrong" at least once for me (being alive at this moment) so I think it's only reasonable that it will go "wrong" again after I die. Meaning that I expect my consciousness to be born again in a human being some time after my death. I do have trouble understanding how this would work in practice so I usually say it would take another universe for conditions to be right to produce another "you". Anyway, I do believe there are some possibilities in this direction of reasoning but I acknowledge that it's speculative to a degree.
