Campaign - with credit to Schne_Belly

i did post this on schne-belly's thread - but thought more may read it as a new topic.

apologies if idea has already been posted.. i think a good campaign would be for us to compose a 'standard' letter (maybe bullet points regarding certain issues, ngo - which the average jw is unaware of - child abuse, hypocricy of mexico / malawi stuff etc.

with quotes from watchtowers if need be, as they seem to carry more weight than the bible does) and each of us to print off several copies and send to selected members of the local congregation - the ones we know / remember as the intelligent thinkers.

I like the idea. If a fader is concerned that suspicion might come their way, could someone else send them from a postmark far away after being supplied names & addresses? Preferably from a large city.

Circuit Overseer Visit

this week, my congregation has the privilege of the visit from the circuit overseer.. my mother took a day off work to go out.

i put in for extra hours.. in the off chance we get wrapped up in discussion, what should i say?.

Would you be willing present the receipts that justify the $300.00 + in expenses that you claim to the congregation for a week? Because it seems too much given the fact that all your expenses are covered by the WT and your meals are provided by the congregation."

He presents those receipts to the elders upon their request. One time I forgot to ask & there was no bill.

Another time the co said because we were so small a cong , he was not going to submit expenses.

im hurt, desperate, confused and considering this religion - advice?

like the subject title says, i'm hurt, desperate and confused and don't know what to do anymore.

i'm so desperate to have something to live for that i'm considering converting to something like the jehovah's witnesses.

i know this might seem a bit extreme but please hear me out.

So sorry to hear what you are going through. You've gotten some good advice here.

Please get professional help, but

from 40 years experience, I can tell you that JW's will not help you feel Jesus' love. They have pretty much replaced him with 'the organization'. I attended the public talk yesterday and Jesus was not even mentioned.

You WILL feel better with proper help.

1963 UN resolution anyone else noticed this?

i found this intresting the sun god noted above, now notice the 1963 resolution not to join the un.

"that we will continue to look to him as the great sun from whom comes our enlightenment, guidance and healing.

we will glorify him and not join idolatrous men in looking to bright-shining ones of mankind as the source of mental and spiritual enlightenment and of worldly prosperity".

In the year 1914 ...... According to the published information from the Holy Bible, the time then came for all the political nations to yield their sovereignty in the earth peaceably over to the heavenly kingdom of God's enthroned Son Jesus Christ.

I always wondered what this meant in practical terms. Did they really expect the representatives of each Government to come knocking on their door in Brooklyn & say 'we understand that you represent the new global king, JC, so here is our resignation so you can rule the world without interference from us'?

Something I wonder.......

a month ago my mother died.

she had been a witness for 40 years.

when she was sick she got me wondering if all the witnesses think that this system will come to an end in there lifetime and they won't have to go thru death?

my father showed me a watchtower, i thing it was feb 1st 2006. the last sentence of the first article said something like the reader could live to see god's judgement.
