i think some of you may enjoy this article, it makes a change from hearing about yet another species on the extinct list and shows why we need to conserve our natural heritage.
http://www.the-scientist.com//?articles.view/articleno/38639/title/new-species-abound/.
in october, the world wildlife fund (wwf) published a list of 441 new species that have been discovered in the amazon in the last four years: 258 plants, 84 fish, 58 amphibians, 22 reptiles, 18 birds, and one mammal.
i do not think god is a'morphic.
god is not human, so hence he does not possess human characteristics, to know god better and to understand him better i study science.
there has been a new discovery of strange signals picked up from black holes and distant supernovae suggest there's more to space-time than einstein believed.
@kate
assuming all I read was:
"I believe in Spinoza's god"
That would be enough for me - Einstein was famously economical with his words. Those 5 words tell me he was a pantheist.
In any event, I am not interested enough in Einsteins religious beliefs to read a book devoted to the subject - my next related book will definitely be about Spinoza.
I love how you speculate on what 'athiests' will or will not do and their reasons for so not/doing Kate - you need to brush up on your critical thinking skills hun.
in a recent meeting with elders, an argument was used to the effect that jehovah has always [= throughout history] used, or operated through, an organization; therefore, the wts must be that organization today, since god must be using one.
naturally, i know what arguments i've used to counter that argument.
but i'm interested in hearing yours.
Why did Russell not join that organization instead of starting a new one?
yesterday evening my wife and i were invited to friends house for new year's eve.
we met them when i was a christian and we have kept in touch.
they had a few other friends there as well, including the new church pastor and his wife.
I can only conclude what the Bible allows me to conclude
Once you get past that the rest becomes obvious. Good luck.

Einstein was abiguous and vague, but he denied being an atheist that we know.
You are still overlaying your own interpretation. Rather, it is factual to say "It seems to me that Einstein appears to be x,y,z" rather than your definitive "Einstein was x,y,z"
As to denying being an atheist, I suggest you Google "Einstein, atheist, Jesuit" :-) From what I have read it seems to me that Einstein was clearly pantheist.
Although it is tempting to say Einstein was this that or the other it is exactly the same as an atheist bringing "Richard Dawkins is an atheist. So there." to the table. Interesting, but ultimately meaningless.

atheists hope that reason will triumph over superstition

God probably doesn't exist, so best just to crack on with things.
Thanks for the link though - its all BS in case you need a 2nd opinion.
