BOTR - how does that work? Do the petitioners have to state on the petition 'Band On The Run' is not involved?

turn on Verbatim search results - its one of the search tools options that allows you to see 'native' results without personalization

Okay - I want to explore other topics, outside of this one. I really have nothing else to contribute, since anything I comment on - seems to go into debate here.
somehow you managed to open your account at JWN in the middle of a fairly controversial topic - its a bit like barging into a private party and loudly joining the conversation - a lot of new people open with a thread about themselves and what brought them here...
anyways - it will be nice to get you know better on other threads :-) please keep posting
with the polar vortex swirling further and further south and breaking records how cold is it where you are?.
.
here in gettysburg pa last night night we hit a low of -4 degrees but we were blessed with some wind that dropped the wind chill down to -22..
Heck, I've been out on a still sunny -15 day in a TShirt and it feels fine because it's dry.

We laugh now at the "severe frost of -3" warnings we used to get in the UK
I think it was winter 1995 and it did touch -20C at Glasgow Airport - I was there that day and it was cold enough to make your ears painful if not covered by your hat :-)
but ye - Calgary - different league...
i do not think god is a'morphic.
god is not human, so hence he does not possess human characteristics, to know god better and to understand him better i study science.
there has been a new discovery of strange signals picked up from black holes and distant supernovae suggest there's more to space-time than einstein believed.
i wasn't trying to win a debate kate - just doing what I can to help truth get to the surface - its all too easy on forums for truth to be the 1st casualty.

We all to some level want confirmation bias besty, you are not interested in reading more because a wiki quotemined quote confirms your bias
"It seems to me that the idea of a personal God is an anthropological concept which I cannot take seriously. I feel also not able to imagine some will or goal outside the human sphere. My views are near those of Spinoza: admiration for the beauty of and belief in the logical simplicity of the order which we can grasp humbly and only imperfectly. I believe that we have to content ourselves with our imperfect knowledge and understanding and treat values and moral obligations as a purely human problem—the most important of all human problems."
"I believe in Spinoza's God, who reveals himself in the harmony of all that exists, not in a God who concerns himself with the fate and the doings of mankind."
"Scientific research can reduce superstition by encouraging people to think and view things in terms of cause and effect. Certain it is that a conviction, akin to religious feeling, of the rationality and intelligibility of the world lies behind all scientific work of a higher order... This firm belief, a belief bound up with a deep feeling, in a superior mind that reveals itself in the world of experience, represents my conception of God. In common parlance this may be described as "pantheistic" (Spinoza)."
"I am fascinated by Spinoza's Pantheism. I admire even more his contributions to modern thought. Spinoza is the greatest of modern philosophers, because he is the first philosopher who deals with the soul and the body as one, not as two separate things."
Make of Einsteins words what you will Kate - I think the reader will find more accuracy and value in my summary that Einstein was a pantheistic Spinozan that your "Einstein believed in God".
i think some of you may enjoy this article, it makes a change from hearing about yet another species on the extinct list and shows why we need to conserve our natural heritage.
http://www.the-scientist.com//?articles.view/articleno/38639/title/new-species-abound/.
in october, the world wildlife fund (wwf) published a list of 441 new species that have been discovered in the amazon in the last four years: 258 plants, 84 fish, 58 amphibians, 22 reptiles, 18 birds, and one mammal.
"new species" meaning we have just noticed them :-)
