Am I right about the WT being wrong?
by FreedomFrog inhi everyone.... i was "raised" as a dub and got baptised in '86...so in total i had been a jw for over 20 years.
i came to realize that the "way of life" i was living was in fact made up of mostly lies.
i started "questioning" the borg about 6 years ago and finally came out with almostatheist last sept. i know in my heart that they are mostly wrong and very legalist.

we can only be sure the JWs do not have the truth, because everytime they announce new light, that is an admission that they are wrong. Any one of their unfulfilled predictions PROVES they are wrong. It is easy to prove people wrong Biblically wrong by their fruits Matthew Ch 7.
Why don't you discuss?

Truth: the state or quality of being true
Error: a departure from the truth in a statement or in a belief
Err: to make a mistake, to be wrong
Under dictionary definitions ?the truth? cannot contain ?errors?; truth and error are incompatible. This would suggest that truth also means infallible. If something described as ?the truth? yesterday is acknowledged as error today, was it ever ?truth?? By the same token, if ?the truth? is what is being taught today, does that mean it will never be considered as ?error? in the future?
If we are not very careful, the concept of truth could become pretty meaningless, and just about anyone could claim to be in ?the truth?. I need to understand exactly what is meant by people who claim to be in ?the truth?. Rightly or wrongly, my own feeling is that ?truth? must be absolute and unchanging. When Jesus said ?I am the way, the truth and the life...? I believe he meant an unchanging, eternal truth. What is the Watchtower?s definition of ?the truth??
Many, if not all religions, speak in the name of the truth, based on their understanding of the Bible, yet they all disagree with each other. It seems the Bible can be interpreted in different ways by imperfect humans. And what happens when we discover that ?the truth? contains many ?departures from the truth? or ?errors?? Does this allow the possibility that such claims about ?the truth? were false or mistaken? Can any religion really claim to have a monopoly on ?truth??

The Great Crowd
by JAVA inwhen i see how many hits various topics receive compared to the number of posts, it?s obvious to me how many benefit from this forum.
i know most of us skip around from topic to topic before posting, but i think there is a large number of lurkers that read but are not registered members.
sometimes it?s easy for me to forget about, dare i say, the great crowd.

Is the "new light" doctrine scriptural?
by jaffacake ini already heard one argument on this, that the scripture referred to (proverbs 4:18) in context was actually advice of a father to his son on how during his life he would continue to grow spiritually throughout his life.
but a closer look shows that there is no mention at all of new light, in any context.
it says "but the path of the righteous ones is like the bright light that is getting lighter and lighter until the day is firmly estblished" [analogy: from darkness of the night gradually to the full light of the day?].

just out of interest, who qualifies for a resurrection these days? a serious question as I've never been a JW.

Slim, I am sure you are right about that. Those so sure they are right, are the ones I feel most surely are wrong.
Apostate and Troll are just name-calling, unless they are applied sincerely and accurately.

Slim,
I would sincerly like to know what you really believe, and what you sometimes have doubts about. I have many doubts, sometimes. But not while I'm busy on here or studying & researching the Bible.
