Convince me to move to your State (U.S. Only)
by liquidsky inmy husband and i are throwing around the idea of moving to a different state.
nothing is set in stone yet, but some changes in his career may allow for us to move wherever we like in the u.s. i love washington state, but i would like to move somewhere a little warmer.
i've lived in washington all my life and i need a little help in learning about the rest of the u.s.. so convince me to move to your state.

California is the one and only place to be. Affordable or not depends on one's standards. Northern, is cool and lush. Southern is deserty and has many desirable amenities. Central is hometown like and simple. Pick your poison...it is all good in california.

After having walked away from being “raised in” back in aprox. 1977 , I became curious as to what was going on in the ‘organization’. This curiosity was stimulated by my ‘elder’ father and ‘bi-polar’ younger sister verbally attacking me after a family reunion which I attended. I was attacked on so called scriptural reasons (mind you, I have not been in a KH for 20 yrs.) because I had breakfast with my ex-sister in law the next day. Well, ex-sister in law since my ‘elder’ brother had obtained a divorce. This now ex sister in law had put him in jail for physical abuse! The damages to her are a matter of hospital and police record. She in the meantime had found another married jw to sleep with. This meant nothing to me. But yet,
Yes, my brother is still an elder for the jws! But she was disfellowshiped. ?Makes sense right?? NOT
I wanted to know what was going on within the org to explain these attacks. So I searched Jehovah’s witness and came to the official site which was putting forth nothing but the same old spew I had known as a child.
But..oh!! there were these other links as well. This surprised me as I had expected the witnesses to be much more obscure, certainly no anti-witness sites would be available since they had so much information control and no witness-ex-witness would ever put up negative information. Uhmmm, due to the condamination the society would put upon them. Yes, I was one of those idiots that thought the org had total control due to being
‘god’s earthly organization’, yet still. This was abt 4 yrs ago.
Duhhhhhh! Or a more current expletive, “dee d dee!”
So here I am and checking in on a regular basis.

The term apostate is used freely on this forum, don't you find it offensive
by avidbiblereader ini find the term apostate used freely towards those who have left the org, by both witnesses hiding and also ex witnesses calling themselves that.
don't you find that offensive.
i have been out for over 6 years and the last thing i consider myself is an apostate.

i like your description, jgnat, 'I think there is power in owning a word that is meant to injure.'
As that is all it is, a weilding of power over the minds of those who accept it as a negative implication. to bad so many do not have the knowledge of the true meaning.
why? because they refuse to accept their beliefs could possibly be turned away from by honest, good hearted individuals. -

Along the same lines, I watched a History Channel show about the plagues of Egypt being easily explained by weather science, including the red rain of blood. I highly recommend watching, The Exodus Decoded

Does anyone remember?

heheheh, I love these demon stories!
Here's another,
While out in service as a kid in the 60's my folks and i were on a return visit to a guy who had pin ups all over his garage. I remember thinking, "oh, how pretty these girls all were, maybe I will look like that someday" Well, I really don't remember the adult conversation (witnessing) that went on, but he gave my mom a chocolate candy bar. I thought " oh what a kind man".
Anyway, we got back to the car with my dad and sisters, and brother, and I was all happy to share the chocolate. NO WAY! as soon as we were out of sight of the homeowner, my mom in a frenzy stated the candybar to be demonized and threw it out the window (much to my horror) and she was shaking and saying franticaly, "oh, Oh, I feel that was the righteous thing to do, Jeh... surely guided me to do that"!

Highly Recommend Chef Marc's High Heat Turkey Recipe
by JamesThomas infound here: http://www.chefmarc.com/index.
there are videos; and also go down to "other features" for written instructions.. i have followed his instructions the past two years for all the many turkeys baked, and they always come out crispy on the outside and superbly moist on the inside.. i also recommend doing a salt brine soak the night before baking: http://www.buzzle.com/editorials/10-9-2001-5239.asp.
you'll love.

Hi James, I tried this very recipe a couple of years ago. I thought it sounded great and yummy.
But, I must have done something wrong, even after watching the videos and emailing back and forth with
Chef Marc.
My new self-cleaning oven came out a mess! and the turkey was dry.
I am anxious to hear anyone elses results. Maybe I will be brave and try it again...
