recently i've had a couple of visits from jws while i was at work.
each time they left a message that the co was going to be visiting this week and that it would be good if i went to the meeting.. i was really surprised at the strong reaction i had to the thought of going to a meeting again.

Me too. Physically ill. Just as I would if someone suggested I go to a meeting of a human sacrifice cult. JWs give me the goose bumps--they are evil, and I want nothing to do with them.
the march 2005 kingdom ministry brings up a full article about the awake only being published once a month, starting january 2006. .
but the fun thing is the roundabout way this change is announced.
knowing that the news would be a bitter pill to swallow (there should be a 'speeding up' of the preaching work, not a downsizing), the watchtower only announces the move to monthly publishing by the end of the article.
Unfortunately, they are ALWAYS full of ideas. Bad ones.

Didn't you find the mags to be the same stuff, rehashed over and over, like yesterday's leftover meatloaf? I used to think everyone else was so strange when they'd get all excited about a "new" thing coming out in a publication or assembly, only to find out that, every time, it was the same as stuff they've already published. I would ask people what was so different about it, and even showed them previous publications that had the same thing in them, only to be looked at like I had 3 heads. They would claim there was some new "insight" in there, if I were only to look hard enough for it.

Are those quotes from their operating certificate or licensure? If so, I imagine they are licensed to do a certain scope of activities there, and the tests may be grouped together w/o them specifically asking to be licensed to do preg tests. Just a guess.

XQ, You don't have to die. All that stuff about ex-JWs dying is a myth. (Even if it were true, how much sense would it make for you to go around suffering depression for the rest of your days?) It's common for people just leaving the JWs to go around thinking every bolt of lightning was God's retribution for them personally. That's the major reason so many people stick around the bOrg when they don't want to. They're afraid God will kill them. God killing non-compliant JWs is the essence of every doctrine. Think about it: What happens if you question in your heart what the elders tell you? What happens if you talk against the WTS or question them? What happens if you stop finding joy in field service? You get the picture....the answer to all of these is....God will put you to death! JWs are a high control group, and this is a common tactic among such groups. We have the one and only truth about the mysterious universe. Stick with the group, no matter what. Reward loyalty and punish even the hint of disloyalty. Punishment comes in the form of labeling you as "bad association", DFing, and ultimately, by J at Armageddon or sooner, when he'll be killing you. With that belief, there's nothing but depression ahead. So what's the answer for ex-JWs? Yeah, enjoy your life. In addition to that, start questioning your beliefs, starting with the one that says God is about to kill you. Go back and look at history--there have always been doomsday groups who claim divine retribution will happen any day now, yet it never does. Is it possible this JW belief is erroneous? Use your mind, your logic...think about it. Depression is suffering. Constantly believing death is at hand is suffering. Both are escapable.

That's a good idea! OTOH, why not do both? Why should dubs' violations of the law be overlooked? It just emboldens them--they think J is helping to shield them from the consequences of breaking the law. A little fine and hand-slapping from the feds would do 'em good. It will help them to examine why they are doing such extreme things in the service of their "faith".
I imagine, in other cases, mags were left by themselves, so they just wrote a letter to the cong because they didn't know who did it. In this case, as I understand it, the person who did it signed her name, so it should be really easy for the USPS to follow up.
i seem to remember back in my jw days, a scripture that said something to the effect that if you publicly denounce jehover, you would never be forgiven of it?
i really want to bring this up to my ever-persistant family as a good reason for me not to come back to meetings and try to be reinstated.
i have already told them that i will never, ever, ever come back, that i don't even believe in god per-se.
Mark3:29 whoever blasphemes against the holy spirit has no forgiveness forever, but is guilty of everlasting sin.
I have no idea anything about the "scriptural basis" of the unforgivable sin doctrine. What I was told growing up, is:
apostacy=any speaking out against JWs
apostacy=unforgivable sin
everlasting=something lasting until death as a human, not the same as eternal, which means forever
death=paying your dues for committing an unforgivable sin
Therefore, apostates can only be forgiven if they repent some time before death, still must die at Armageddon [absolutely no way around dying], then J will resurrect them. Dying cleanses them of the sin.

" pretty much sums up what service is about for most witnesses... i always prefered a good conversation, even at a young age... but the pat on the back always came from making placements... especially if it was a book!.
Pioneers were something else, selling books and magazines at a 500 percent profit, can you beleive that?
Ya know, I had forgotten about that! I remember getting a discount on them and being told to sell them at face value to "support my ministry". <gag>
But still I only made a "profit" of maybe $.10 on each one [and I was lucky if I sold 2 a month], sold at the face value of, I think $.35. Far from a 500% profit. I must have joined the wrong congregation. Hell, had I joined yours, I could have filled my "leave the dubs" fund much sooner! (yes, I actually had a secret fund set aside for when I turned 18, to pay for a security deposit on an apartment, so I could get away from the dubs)

Did I demand that my kids worshiped me simply because I helped put them on this earth? No.
Did I play games with my kids to prove that they loved me so much they would kill for me just to prove it? No.
Was I a jealous father because they chose to love others as much as they did me? No.
Did I tempt them with a bag of cookies that they could not eat or I would kick them out of the house if they did? No.
Did I threaten to kill them and all their friends if they did not keep telling me how great I was and what a great provider I was every night before they hopped in bed or sat down for a hot dog and coke? No.
