here's a song i wrote a few years back for a canary i met in a petshop who really seemed to want me to take him home but i didn't have the $... not sure why i'm posting it here except maybe others have experienced these feelings at one time or another.... shifty little eyes.

I know part of what you're going through. I lost my bird (Mexican Red Head) named Cheeko last part of January. I was hurting so bad that I created a discussion forum to help others with their losses. You don't realize how much these wonderful creatures can intertwine in your heart until you've owned one.

Anyone sick?

At first Zach got the stomach virus, throwing up and all. Which then was passed to AA. Then you guessed it, I got it . But mine turned into bronchitis. And now I've got this stupid cough that just won't go away. Zach also ended up getting the cough, but it didn't go down to his chest. So far our 5 mo. old is staying well.

I've been running around spraying Clorox disinfecting spray on door knobs, sink handles, light switches, sides of doors where hands could have touched...EVERYWHERE. We've been taking OVC meds. and Dr. prescribed me with a cough tablet. Still can't shake this. It's been a little over a month. YUCK!

i recently read an article about jw's that, if had the choice, would probably leave because of the deceptions, lies, etc., but don't because of family, friends, prestige, whatever, and instead lead a make-believe life going through the motions of being a loyal and believing follower of the watchtower organization.

most of those purported to be part of this non-believing/participating, but attending, jw population, are folks that have been associated with the jw's for a number of years, but, as many have, decided that the lies and constant changes (new light) just don't make sense anymore.

i would suspect that identifying those who just "go through the motions" of being a good jw would be difficult.

I am a FORMER WITNESS. I am no apostate and I don't want to be catgorised with them!!!

SilmBoyFat, maybe I'm missing something here. You say that you are a "former witness". Yet that makes you an "apostate" by default. What do you personally consider an "apostate" to be?

Here's an article from the Watchtower of 1980

2 The word "apostasy" comes from a Greek term that means "a standing away from," "a falling away, defection," "rebellion, abandonment." The first one to fall away from the true worship of Jehovah was Satan the Devil. He was therefore the first apostate. (John 8:44) He caused the first human couple to become apostates. (Genesis, chapter 3) Very early in the history of Israel there was a "falling away" or ?turning aside? from true worship. We read:
"Even to their judges they did not listen, but they had immoral intercourse with other gods and went bowing down to them. They quickly turned aside from the way in which their forefathers had walked by obeying the commandments of Jehovah."?Judg. 2:17.

So by you just "turning away" or as you say being "a former witness", that makes you an apostate by their definition. Unless you believe EVERYTHING that the JW's teach, then you are "turning aside".

i thought of a question i'd like to ask my sister-in-law (who's a fanatical dub).

i'd like to say to her: "...if it could be proven to you beyond any doubt that this was not the "one true religion", would you still go to the kingdom hall?...

i figure it's a catch-22 that really ought to make them stop and think.

You would never get ANY answer; much less the desired one.

I agree with franklin because I did ask my parents that and all I got was "well, that's not going to happen". I couldn't, for the life of me, get a straight forward answer from them.

You just go in circles.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for making this so much fun for Zach. I think his attention is directed on other things now so he's moving on.

He loved knowing that he got posts from everywhere, including other countries. I would show him on the map where some of you were located which made it more exciting for him. (we got a lesson in geography)

He had me print this out because he wanted to save them.
