Today's WT
by OneFingerSalute inso today's wt seems to put out the idea that during early christian times it was god's hand that made the romans build roads, have strong laws, etc.
to make the preaching easier.. anyone else notice that?
some here really banged on about how great it was that god did that, just for them.

The real answer to why is the Watchtower Corporation so indulgently corrupt
by Finkelstein into derive at a correct answer as to why has the watchtower corporation been so corrupt and devious comes it toward that fact this religious publishing house has had men placed in a position to come up with appealing doctrines to allure the publics attention to the very literature the organization's published.
the return of christ, the end times and great tribulation is at hand as well armageddon.
these were all posturing doctrines which the wts has used extensively all throughout the 20th century and before.

Impossible conversation: Jesus and Nicodemus: YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN
by Terry ini am a member on new testament scholar bart ehrman's blog, and the professor is currently outlining a new book he is writing about false memory and the life of jesus.. an interesting post occurred today in which he gives an example of a very famous scripture,.
example of a false memory of jesus teaching i turn to a famous passage in the gospel of john, jesus dialogue with nicodemus (john 3:1-15).
nicodemus is said to be a jewish leader who comes up to jesus and affirms that jesus must come from god because of the great things that he said to have done.

God & JW can't exist without "evil"
by thedepressedsoul ini was thinking the other day that so far jw's and god have always needed or relied on "evil" to get items done or taken care of.
almost every bible prophecy and jw teaching would not exist without "evil".. let's take the prophecy of jesus for example, it would not have been fulfilled without evil.
when you think about it, he was a needed evil in order for prophecy to be fulfilled.

New thoughts on Charity commissioners case
by jimtheman699 indespite all the comments on the charity commission case - its not too bad for the wtbts.. .
the judge found in their favour on a number of key issues - the dates on the papers, the signatures were correct, it was nice paper and they used expensive qc's.
it is, however worth noting that the judge was not exactly supportive and found the cc were within their rights to investigate because:-.

'great crowd' are in the temple (naos) but not in the new covenant???
by fukitol inin one of the biggest about-faces in watchtower history, in a 2002 question from readers it was admitted that the great crowd is indeed in the temple itself (naos) in revelation 7. .
but notice the statement bolded below from that article comparing the great crowd to the proselytes in ancient israel.
the statement is made that the proselytes "submitted to the law covenant.

A flaw in JW logic on sin and transmision
by _Morpheus inthe "special talk" this year was about family happiness.
as always seems to be the case it was a bait and switch job since the talk had actually nothing to do with how to achive family happiness and everything to do with jw doctrine on why familys are unhappy.
mine is unhappy because of jw doctrine but thats the implied irony in attending the sunday indoctrination i suppose.. that said, the speaker trotted out the oft used jw illistration of a dented bread pan to describe why and how sin was passed from one human (adam) to another (all of us).

PSALMS 83: 18 What is the name of God ?
by william draper inso many of us have been taught that the name of god is jehovah , if like me many have come to really appreciate god's name .. .
more accurately we , at least many or most love the name of jehovah , or more accurately should i say this pronunciation .
does god care what we call him , of course he does , he had his name written in the bible as yhwh ( best i can do on this computer ) , more than 6000 times .
