Yes. I sometimes felt that God wouldn't listen to my prayers. Sometimes when I pray I get confused about what to call God. I feel funny not using Jehovah, but I don't think that is the correct name and I don't feel it's necessary to use it. I usually say about 3 names, jehovah, yahweh and just God. Then when my prayer is over I hope i don't get struck with lightning.

Anyone Experience Something Similar After Exiting
by love2Bworldly ini am starting to remember something weird when i left the jw's, but wonder if it's a physchological manifestation of the brainwashing & control they had over me and the guilt trip/fear of being 'bad'.
i remember when i used to look up toward the sky sometimes and pray a silent prayer to jehovah.
after i got disfellowshipped, i felt like when i looked up and thought about god that there was almost a physical ceiling on the other side of the blue sky that curtained me off from jehovah hearing my prayers.

Alright. It is done.
Last night during the announcements a new ministerial servant was appointed along with a new elder. Yippee!!
Also, I was deleted from the elder body. Double Yiiipppeee!!!
Of course I won't be getting my KM as early now. I am interested to hear whatever gossip is going around about me, but I set everything up pretty well for quite some time. Everyone knows how sickly I am don't ya know .
Anyway, please don't treat me any differently than before. I'm still your brother, but I'm very ill and need time to take it easy and focus on my health.
The only thing I'll miss is getting my KM early, reading all the letters from the society and going to the elder meeting with the CO to hear the new issues confronting the friends. I'll miss it because I'm nosey not because I really care .
Alright, I will also miss being a moderate voice during committee meetings and discussing appointments. Hopefully some other brother will pick up my torture stake and carry on.

Slow Fade Progresses
by TheListener ini wanted to give everyone an update on the current state of my slow fade.
i live in an environment that is hostile to the slow fade so i usually speak in general terms.
this time i plan to give just a little bit more information so i can heal myself as i go through this process.. i have doubted for several years (about 3).

Shania,
You are right on. My wife has mentioned that before when I first began to slow down. I do feel bad for her because she is the one who gets the questions and is torn between revealing my confidential matters to those who could help me and saying nothing and feeling responsible for my downfall. I do not envy her anymore than I envy myself.

Jula,
There is actually a course entitled "Rock, Paper,Scissors - insider's guide to GB deliberations" during entrance school for new bethelites .
I always used it to decide if I should sin or not. The game doesn't work well when played alone. Of course I was able to do a lot of sinnin'.

Sorry I don't know how to put a link to a previous discussion thread. But if you search under 'special talk' you should find the one or two threads that discuss the talk.
It was given April 10 and it was about Jesus.
The talk outline from the society is also on one of the threads.

DF'd/DA'd, Death, Resurrection --- Future new light?
by catchthis inyears ago when i first started to question the organization and i knew at some point in time that i would eventually da myself or be df'd for some reason, i always wondered if my family would, in time, accept me once again after shunning me.
the 1995 generation thread brought this back up in my mind and i was interested to know if anyone else used this same line of thinking.. for the sake of those who still have jw relatives, let's put on their thinking caps for a minute.
jw's understand that just about everyone that has ever lived upon the face of the earth and have died, will be resurrected.

Vitty,
There is no new 2014 date. Individuals are mentioning it because it's 100 years past 1914. Most dubs (as you know) thought the new system would be here long before now and 2014 is likely a mental block for most of them to think of.
final answer: no new prophetic date.

Welcome Chia,
I am really glad you posted your story. Don't worry about being wordy - it's important to get things out if we need to. I am really sorry for all the pain and suffeirng you've went through. Exiting the dubs is so hard. I look forward to hearing more posts.
Like I said in the pm's: sounds like you have a plan and are following through. Good for you.
Crumpet,
I have that same daydream when I'm at the WT study. Makes it dificult to stand up and read the paragraphs.

followed by a silence that was broken with ohhhs and ahhhs.
he said that a couple of times throughout his part, simulating a beating heart with his fist.

That comment is sad and shows a real lack of love. The fact that the audience accepts and finds pleasure in it is also sick.
However, I believe it is comments like that they may cause some in the audience to think a little more. The more the society tries to scare everyone into doing what they require the more people will stop doing it. There may have been some in the audience that were disgusted by the comment or others reactions but felt that they had to hide their true feelings to remain faithful (or hidden).
I know that comments like that bother my wife who is a very faithful dub.

Greyeyes,
Good luck with your girlfriend. You know if she completely accepts the 'truth' that you will not have the same relationship as you do now. It's move our or get married - period. You made a statement about it being an imperfect organization run by imperfect men - exactly. That's what caught me by surprise a few years ago. I never thought of it like that. I knew it was imperfect but figured that in the end it was really run by Jehovah. All I can say is that now I feel foolish for believing the claims of an imperfect organization and following them no matter what they said - as if they were in fact perfect. I knew they weren't perfect or inspired but I still treated them that way.
4thought,
Wow. You should already know that you can't be a 'sometimes' witness. Either you believe that they WTBTS is being used by God to do his will before the end and you follow what they say in order to gain eternal life or you realize that they are not different than other religions. It's ok that they feel comfortable because you know what to expect and how they feel on things. That doesn't make it right. Why put so much energy into something if you're always going to be viewed as 'weak' unless you commit 100%? There are some great independent bible study groups that have excellent child rearing classes and bible schools for children that don't try to force their interpretation on every issue. Also, as an elder (for 2 more days) I can tell you that when a df'd person comes back to the hall after an absence we will most certainly welcome them. It doesn't mean that his offenses will be forgiven any quicker, just that we realize how difficult it is to return. Also, notice it wasn't the congregation in general who were welcoming - only the elders. Always following the organizations rules. Read the prodigal son account. The father didn't test his returning son for repentance, or go to the elders to get their okay to welcome him home - no, he immediately welcomed his son home and showed the love that he wanted to show.
