What's your greatest coincidence?
by ozziepost inwell, haven't you had things happen and you just know they're not accidental ...... or are they?
some people don't 'believe' there are such things as coincidences but whatever, what's the greatest of coincidences that has ever happened to you?
kinda like "what's the most coincidental of coincidences", eh?

I have told this story many times over.. it left a very deep impression on me.
It happened in the summer of 1987. I was standing on a bridge in Paris. Had been standing there for quite a while. I was watching the boats on the water, enjoying a sunny day. All of a sudden, I felt an incredible urge to run. Many thoughts went through my head all at once. Why did I want to run? How stupid did I look? All I know is that I started running real fast for no apparent reason. As I was running, I heard a big boom behind me. I stopped, looked back, and a car had hit the side rails of the bridge exactly in the spot where I had been standing just a few moments ago.
This is only one incident, but there were many. Too many to feel comfortable about. I don't know what to think.

*People who are ALWAYS late.
*When the phone, and not the alarm clock wakes me up. (Happens at least twice a week)
*The cat, when she keeps going in and out and in and out and in and out and in and out and in and out.
*Incompetence, when it is a result of laziness.
*People who imitate my accent. It infuriates me.
*What annoys me more than anything else....people who send their writings to me, asking me to edit for them, but they don't bother using a spell check, they make no efforts to deliver a polished work, because they know I will edit anyway, so why bother.. it is insulting.
*Commercials in any shape or form. TV, newspaper, magazines, radio, pop-ups, spammers, etc..
*Every once in a while, I manage to annoy myself, especially right after waking up in the morning.

Tough day -- my mom died today
by cruzanheart inpoor thing, she's had alzheimer's for about 10 years and the last year she's been on hospice care because she's been so close to death.
the past few months she's been slowly filling up with water -- they gave her lasix (not sure of the spelling) to relieve the edema and it worked, sort of.
last weekend she actually looked a little better.

who is who on here??
by holly ini know there are mostly ex jw's on here.
i just wondered how many of you are ex jws, left or df'd, how many are still in but have lost heart?.
are there any jws on here who still believe its all the truth, go to meetings and trust the organisation?.

I'm like you, Holly. Studied with the JW's (off and on for 20 years!). Somehow I never got around to getting baptized, but did go to all the meetings. I came to this site, thinking there were JW's here, and I would find some support re baptism. My mouth fell open after reading some posts on here. I bought Crisis Of Conscience, which I'm currently reading. I stopped going to the meetings, about a month after I initially found this site. Somehow, nobody at all from the KH has contacted me. If they do, I will tell them exactly why I don't go to the meetings anymore, and suggest they read CoC. If they don't, oh well, what can I say? I have no hard feelings against them, as most JWs I know are quite gentle people. They are good and honest people, being misled by the GB.

Try to beat my score...
by JH inhttp://www.vox.de/flash/game.html
all you have to do is press on the right arrow as fast as you can to gain speed....then press on the spacebar when you get just before the wall.
i made a score of 784 meters.

When I had a slower computer, I always hit the wall because I couldn't gain enough speed. Below 60 MPH you will hit the wall no matter what. Also, you have to let the arrow key go, before you hit the spacebar.
Thanks! I don't have a slow computer, but I do have a slow connection here in the boonies. Trying again..

What I remember from 1975
by Big Dog insince i am sort of late to the party this has probably been beaten to death and if it has just kick this thread to the curb.
i was 11 years old in 1975 and i remember being scared silly the whole year.
i mean there was so much hype about it and the tension in the air was so thick it was unreal.

I was 13 in 1975, and did not grow up around JW's. I am not sure if it was 1975 in particular, but I clearly remember talk about 'the end of the world being near', some time in the seventies. It was actually my aunt, (a catholic nun), who kept talking about it. I remember being scared to death, and spending many nights awake, praying to God.

why do I keep hitting the wall? Nothing happens when I hit the space bar. GGRRRR, another addiction to add to my list.

Hi there Zach, welcome. How neat that you are being home schooled. I bet they don't have such interesting grammar lessons at the local schools.

Smokers - How do you justify it to yourself?
by AlmostAtheist ini've been smoking since i quit being a witness.
i smoked for a week when i was 15, i quit when i started studying.
my "smoking" then was only a few cigarettes, i was by no means addicted.

That's not a smoking problem, that's a bad manners problem. Smokers that smoke around non-smokers (except in designated smoking areas) really bug me.
I second that. It is a matter of consideration. Smoking, spitting, picking your nose..
